Tool – The Patient Lyrics 15 years ago
for those of you that want a real interpretation: C.S. Lewis wrote a book called the Screwtape Letters--a christian satire that is about a demon guiding a junior level demon on how to keep a man out of heaven. he (screwtape) tells the junior demon (wormwood) that the key to successfully taking a man is through boredom and confussion, rather than to get him to something entirely evil. ("the safest path to hell is a gradual one")

what does this have to do with this song? the lyrics clearly show that the narrator is questioning his own faith and is continuously choosing this tedious path of some sort.

so what's the main kicker in all of this? throughout the 'Screwtape Letters', the demons always refer to the man in question as...you guessed it..."the patient"

...your welcome

The Dear Hunter – The Lake and the River Lyrics 15 years ago
takes place at same place that 1878 took place. he describes the same tree...which i assume is a metaphor for something else...probably some dead body

The Dear Hunter – The Procession Lyrics 15 years ago
i think that casey puts meaning behind the WAY he sings as well. "one life for another" seems too angry to be starting a new life--the way its sung just seems like irrational emotions wanted to seek revenge from his mom's killer

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Flee The Factory Lyrics 15 years ago
the rhythmic patterns in the second verse sound pretty random...maybe its the morse code they talk about in the war of all against all?

The Receiving End Of Sirens – The Epilogue Lyrics 15 years ago
seems like the whole album is a conflict between your heart and reason. The hidden track sounds very robotic in terms of the vocals...very droning too. maybe the brain won over the heart? that would be a shame...

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Disappear (Oubliette) Lyrics 15 years ago
i'm probably wrong but it seems as if this song refers back to the heart and synapse...? the last few seconds plays the melody of "he can be anywhere" that is repeatidly in that album...
