I've read the comments about Kate's father, but I personally get the feeling this song is about a man who commit suicide. The whole chorus (and the bridge) sounds very accusatory, and I'd like to think that she wouldn't talk (sing) about her father this way if he lost his battle with cancer. That's not something people have much control over. |

I think it's totally abot killing herself. Especially considering the gagging noises she makes later in the song, after singing about drinking the water. Plus how the melody kind of slows down and gets a little dreamy... could represent how she feels woozy from ingesting the soap. Plus, hello, "And start to feel mortality surround me." Girl is tired of mundane routine so she escapes. Boom. |
