Jefferson Airplane – 3/5's of a Mile in 10 Seconds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
216 MPH. Maybe it has something to do with Funny Cars.. lol |
Jefferson Airplane – D.C.B.A.-25 Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Good comments all, mostly. And why do we never, ever hear this on the radio, as opposed to the oversaturation of "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit", played unto death? DCBA is a far greater tune, more substance and subtlety. Guess "They" never recognized it, more's the pity. And another reason why Itunes blows in a major way; the hits you may buy as singles might never reach the heights of the unrecognised tunes one would get from the whole album. |

Prostitution makes sense, never thought of that - but so does falling into heroin, "something inside of him died". |
Elvis Costello – Beyond Belief Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It great to see so many folks who share the same reverence for this tune. It is extraordinary, fits together like a watch. Whenever it comes on the radio (Radio Paradise, where else?)I stop whatever I am doing and revel in it. A real shame so many FM clonebot stations and so many people think Elvis is merely "Alison" or Watching The Detectives" |
Neko Case – Deep Red Bells Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I sorta hear that as "when speckled fawns graze round your bones".. creepier still, fits a little better, too. |
Grateful Dead – Hell In A Bucket Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Try this: Well, I was drinking last night with a biker And I showed him a picture of you I said, "Pal, get to know her. You'll like her." Seemed like the least I could do... 'Cause when he's driving his chopper Up and down your carpeted halls, You will think me by contrast quite proper. Never mind how I stumble and fall. Never mind how I stumble and fall. [Chorus:] You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot For a taste of your elegant pride I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe, But at least I'm enjoying the ride. At least I'm enjoying the ride. At least I'm enjoying the ride. Now miss sweet little soft-core pretender, Somehow baby got hard as it gets. With her black leather chrome spiked suspenders, Her chair and her whip and her pets. Well we know you're the reincarnation Of the ravenous Catherine the Great. And we know how you love your ovations For the Z-rated scenes you create. The Z-rated scenes you create. [Bridge:] You analyze me, pretend to despise me, You laugh when I stumble and fall. There may come a day I will dance on your grave If unable to dance, I will crawl across it Unable to dance, I'll still crawl. You must really consider the circus 'Cause it just might be your kind of zoo I can't think of a place that's more perfect For a person as perfect as you. And it's not like I'm leaving you lonely 'Cause I wouldn't know where to begin But I know that you'll think of me only When the snakes come marching in When the snakes come marching in |
Mark Knopfler – Speedway At Nazareth Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Third verse: should be "edify" rather than "crucify". |
Jefferson Airplane – Mexico Lyrics | 14 years ago |
A few corrections: it's "You're famous Uncle Charlie", not "thanks". "And we sang to their faces in the dawn" (not dark) a reference to the Airplane's sunup performance at Woodstock. I also am unsure about "that damn race" and will check back when I know. |
R.E.M. – Me In Honey Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, that's all very well- Michael Stipe's sexual orientation notwithstanding. This song blows me away alwyas, a hypnotic trance tune I can't ever get out of my mind. |
U2 – Elvis Presley And America Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I am glad I was not in high school meticulously transcribing lyrics when this was released, I'd have gone nuts. I loaded it and many other U2 onto my new iPod, and when it came up in a shuffle play I was blown away all over again. It's like falling in love with a song in a foreign language and not caring about the meaning, the melody is so hypnotic I never really thought about it. So that scratching a 30 year itch by finally reading the lyrics (and comments)brought absolutely no insight was in a way a relief. Maybe it's a Mondegreen, but I always heard (still do) this "Like you pretend you can "You say go, you live" as "Like pinpricks in your hand You say, 'Oh Julia" which actually almost makes sense. This song is perfect for breathing. |
