The Mountain Goats – The Water Song 2 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Only connection to the first Water Song I can find is in the line, "let them strike me dead", as the first Water Song uses the line "let them kill me" repeatedly. Other than that, I'm drawing blanks. |

Actually, acowkickedme, I think the point he makes in "I Corinthians 13 8-10" (the song) is exactly the opposite of the point he makes in this - in that song, the love shared between the two characters is the one thing of beauty between them in a moment of absolute destruction. Here, the protagonist clearly makes the point that love is unkind - in that way, exactly the point you made "it isn't what everyone says it is". |

The Mountain Goats – Going to Bridlington Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Could be that she's the one who got hurt, and she's trying to put on a brave face to cover it up? Smoothing her skirt around her thighs, messing with her earrings, trying to smile... but the protagonist sees through the facade, as clear as blood on her hands. Something like that, anyway... |

I'm pretty sure it's actually: "and then the hills behind your eyes start burning like a solid wall of licking flames" |
