The Gaslight Anthem – Bring It On Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I heard in an interview, that the lyrics in 59' sound (album) were mostly nostalgic where as the lyrics from this album were all about the here and now, so im not so sure if its a pre-lude to great expectations. It could still b about a relationship that went wrong (due to the negativity towards her state of mind in the relationship) but he still loves her so he wants to take her pain away (i.e, gimmie the fevers that just wont break, gimmie the children u dont wanna raise)? |

"the cool" is acctually a re-occuring refference in gaslight anthem albums, like it thier last 1 thier was a song "miles davis and the cool" which was a refference basicly to Miles Davis and his cool cool jazz and the feeling of having "the cool" with you. So Brian sayin "and tell me about the cool, that he sings you in those songs, if its better then my love" could be Brian askin the lady to tell him about that feeling miles davis gives her, if Miles Davis's music is better then his love..... |

btw this site is all about finding out the MEANINGS of the songs, nto bitch about them so get your priorities straight! to me most rise against songs have double meanings, they usually have the political meaning while they also have the meaning that can realate to all of us, which is why rise against has such grate songs. to me the first menaing of the song is of a girl who lost something and wants to get it back. and so shes not gonna just sit around and wait for it. instead shes gonna keep going and persitisng to get what she wants because she knows its comming. the lins "she got down on hands and knees, one ear against the ground, holding her breath to hear something, anything at all The dirt whispered, "Child, I'm coming home." shows that she knows its comming btu she still has to keep going on. the other meiang is the political side of it. talkign about how the world is slowly but surely changing the world for themselves adn that they know that what they all worked for is comming but they cant jsut rest now they have to keep going in oreder to make it all worth while. the lines "echoes of songs still lurk on distant foreign shores, where we danced just to please the gods that only ask for more, so it goes" is a possible reference to war becuase of the "echos of different shores where we dqanced to please the gods that only aks for more" meaing they keep doing what the government wants them to but it never ends what they want. this line "but still we give ourselves to this we can't spend our lives waiting to live" is the most important line in the song becuase it bsicly tells you the story of the song and rise against. there not going to wait 4 someone else to fix the problems so they can live, but thier gonna do there best as well! please read this is a bitch of a post lol |

Why does everyone seem to hate how these sorts of bands change? so what if there music evolves from the original, if it didnt itd b the same thing over and over again like a broken record. and nobody likes a broken record! I have all of rise against albums and i see how there msuci changes over everyone, sure this one has taken the biggest step, but at the core its still the same rise against! all along they sing for change and sing for justice, btu when something acctually does change alot of thier fans go up in arms saying sellouts and shit. how are they sellouts for acctually beliving in the things they say and changing? seriouse build a bridge and get over the fact that everything wont stay the same forever! your supposed to belive in change not be opposed to it! have your opinions but dont try to force them on others, thats the core of a rise against fan! |
