In the book for 'Tarquin's seaweed farm' steven wilson writes:
"politics has always bored me. This piece could be about peace, love and harmony. Or it could be about nuclear genocide. You decide." |

Porcupine Tree – It Will Rain For A Million Years Lyrics
| 15 years ago

the drowning planet and the space wanderer could be a metaphor for someone's life. the planet being slowly drowned could symbolize the destruction of everything they held dear. the capsule could be the only thing protecting them (drugs, alcohol are my thoughts). then the wandering is them trying to always find what it is they had before, but never finding it |

Matt Mays And El Torpedo – 1 For The Motor Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
it seems to be obviously about the thrill of riding a bike late at night; the engine in your ears, the single headlight, all that good stuff. But one line that could have dual meaning is
"Out riding lines
In the middle of the night" - Possibly a cocaine reference? |

Matt Mays And El Torpedo – Spoonful Of Sugar Lyrics

i saw matt mays solo recently in my hometown at the east coast music awards, and i firstly have to say he was FANTASTIC.
SECONDLY, he played this song solo and he gave a little intro in which he said this song was written once when he was in montreal playing all night at a bar or whatever, and when he woke up in the morning he went to the store and saw a headline that said "JUAN DEVISTATES HALIFAX" (hurricane juan) and halifax being very close to his hometown he became concerned and wondered "who or what is juan?" |

The Tragically Hip – Inevitability Of Death Lyrics
| 15 years ago

i love the statement "we don't go to hell, just our memories do". it means to me that what happens after death is nothing, the fear of going to hell is just that people say you went to hell, or whatever, basically talking ill of you after your passing and damaging your reputation after your demise. just a though. |

Vertical Horizon – The Mountain Song Lyrics

i dont think this song is about being in love with someone but rather the great love that is felt for a friend, and everything that such good friends do for each other, they're always there for each other, etc. etc. |

Rush – Sweet Miracle Lyrics

i would say that the guess that peart wrote this song about the lowest point in his life is correct. it seems to just say how low he was, very lyrically of course, add in the customary awesome guitar and bass parts, drums and then we have a rush soon-to-be classic |

Rush – Best I Can Lyrics

to me, this song means do whatever makes you happy and stop thinking of everyone else (Don't give me speeches 'cause they're oh so droll
Leave me alone, let me rock and roll)... i really love the line: "Got my sights on the stars, won't get that far But I'll try anyway" it's a really encouraging piece of music and good to listen to whenever you are discouraged |

The Tragically Hip – Courage (For Hugh Maclennan) Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
well, to me personally, it kind of sums up something of a problem of mine, that is that whenever i should do something... i can't i get nervous over analyze and freeze, but it doesn't really matter, life goes on (Courage, my word, it didn't come, it doesn't matterr)
But when, in hindsight, i never should have reacted i have all the courage in the world... (Courage, it couldn't come at a worse time). hah this is a problem of mine that has almost ruined my life on many occasions - it's eerie to see it summed up in a song |
