The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Belly Button Window Lyrics 17 years ago
xx3nick probably right. But I like the story about mitch being the inspiration for the song. Hendrix was pretty deep but I don't think as is probably with most people he was dark all the time, just dark moments/periods when he did his writing that were inspirational. The highs and lows of human life make the best songs. Nobody wants to write or hear about an ordinary day.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Machine Gun Lyrics 17 years ago
The sound Hendrix produced in this song along with his rendition of the star spangeld banner will forever be entwined with the vietnam war and the riots going on in the USA at that time. 99% of the time you see images of those things you'll be hearing Hendrix or some dude playing guitar like him. Like in that Vietnam pc game vietcong.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Killing Floor Lyrics 17 years ago
Killing floor is a slaughterhouse. A crappy job black people could have during the forties in Chicago. Howlin Wolf who wrote it maybe had some slaughterhouse crappy job in the beginning. I believe Skip James had a song that references it too. The dude is crying cause his wife has left him and he also got a real crappy job working at the slaughterhouse. That's enough to make a grown man cry I guess lol.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
I like the batman explanation. Would be a joke if it was that lol.
But listening too the disputed line. I clearly hear Noone will level on the line, nobody out of this world.
I think this song is indeed about the class thing and that nobody will ever be equal, hence the level on the line and nobody out of this world. There will always be social injustices. The best you can do is fight it and make the world a bit better. I guess that that is what the song is about. I think for Hendrix it meant being lived by all these people who wanted something out of him, the record executives managers pushing him in a certain direction and the fans wanting him to keep performing his theatric stage act while Jimi wanted to move on music wise. There must be some kind of way out of here being the key line for Jimi I guess. Getting out of the class (the performing artist he was in) and moving on to more creative freedom.

Well my two cents anyway.
