I think this about how they regret what they've done in the past. With The Fiction We Live, they sold out and made an emblem out of the broken,the kinda broken, the I wish I was broken. It's evident on all of the comments on The After Dinner Payback. They're good at what they do though, and I love that album but i have to be honest about what it really is. This kind of a reminder to never do that again. The last line says it all "I hope to be the biggest disappointment." They matured alot in this album |

Fran didn't write didn't all of lyrics to this album, he wrote MOST of the lyrics to this album. You can see on certain songs where it's evident Fran has ghostwritten for Ben. The fact the poster above me claims Ben would be so ignorant, shows me he is not a real fan of they're work, so I will disregard what he/she has said, just wanna set things straight for people viewing. This song is obviously about Ben's writers block, and is quite sad in fact, so to see that great poet's inkwell has run dry. |

He feels much different waking up to this, and wants to shake off the taste of surgery,which makes him feel like he has this false image of himself( hence the part of it accusing him of perjury). I'm bouncing in and out of my body eyes roll in rhythm, as they wish to focus, they can't bear to see... Our eyes are paralyzed, And as your legs are canonized, With water from these seas. To own a heart that's half of yours, These bones are mere accessories. In this part I'm picturing him high from the drugs, he bouncing in and out of conscienceness,and his trying to focus his eyes on what's going on around him but his eyes won't them. This paralyzes his eyes just like his legs. The part talking about his legs being canonized to me means, his legs are shattered like a cannon hit them, the part talking about the water probably means this happened o him while he was surfing. To own a heart thats half of yours is probably talking about how much heart it must take to let this get him down, and how owning a heart thats even half of that would be a great prize, and I'm also thinking its talking about how strong of a heart you need to swim. Him talking about these bones are mere accessories is probably him saying how he doesn't need his arms and legs to live life, and to him there are just mere accessories only needed to show off and for looks. The doctor said he heard me, Stutter as a I muttered a startling, repetitious phrase. And under anesthesia, I told him over and over again, "This body's yours to keep," and then he promised me, He said he'd do as I please. But I stand before you upon the same selfish feet. This part is probably again him in the operating room and he's scared of going into surgery, and stuttering in a panic kind of state,telling him he's scared but he can do with his body as he pleased. The doctor then promises him he'll take good care of his body,and now he stands on the same feet as he had before he was paralyzed. His neck is shattered by the tides The ocean prays for his demise But I swear to you I watched his heart pump blood into those veins Throwing punches at ocean waves (x7) Ocean waves And as the tides retired I saw the smile you see today To own a heart that's half of yours, yours These bones are mere accessories this part goes back to when he falls to the ocean floor and his neck is shattered by the ocean waves, and even though he is hurt he is able to swim back to the shore, throwing punches at ocean waves. There's my take on it please leave your thoughts on what i wrote. |

dang all you guys have given the worst explainations ever, no say that im any better than you thats just my opinion but yeah i dont like any of your guy's explainations heres my take, not that it'll be any better. And the smile part i think means that this song is supposed to bring him joy. You know how artist write songs about someone thinking it will make them feel better? I think its just about how relationships are just flings nowadays.to me it seems he doesnt care about her at all and she i guess had feelings for him.I guess he was just looking for a one night stand and got entangled in something ugly, and ended up hurting someone in the process. the story starts at our first show running the door dressed to impress a guy like me, looking good the conversation started right, i had you laughing through the night and i reeled you in, hooked and caught this part really explains what im talking about. |
