this is one of those songs that sounds happy and beautiful, but still somehow pretty much breaks your heart. I have nothing that sad to relate to it (except a good friend of mine who loved it moving away), and it still makes me cry all the time. it makes me sick to my stomach how much I love this song. ♥ |

I don't like music that's at all pop, and I'm not a huge fan of her other stuff, but I adore this song. I think its really pretty and nice, and her voice on it isn't perfect which makes it unique and I really like that. |

I have a place in the park where no one goes, under these sad trees, & I can just sit by the river & think. And I ALWAYS listen to Romulus there. This song is so powerful even though its so gentle, it touches on so much with saying relatively little, and it just clutches at your heart, you know? So sad, Sufjan. Definitely my favorite of his. |

I think the saddest most powerful part of this song is the harmonica solo. I swear to god it gives me chills everytime, & I feel like literally going to burst out crying. I feel like he's physically grabbing at my heart, that's how strong this song is. The music, the words, just holy crap.. so intensely amazing. Though I'm not gona lie, I dont know what he means by "I just wanna die without you". First time I heard this, I thought he was aying "I don't wanna die without you", and that made a lot of sense. |

I used to think it was "you're pretty, all makeup". cause thats what it sounds like it's saying, haha but I guess it doesnt make much sense. This is a great song, really catchy, it definitely hooks you after only one listen. |

Best thing about his songs is that they leave so much room for personal interpretation. If you have a bird.. you can relate. If you're in a tough relationship.. you can relate. If you're away from home.. you can relate. So everybody can take something from it! This is my absolute favorite off the album. It's beautiful. When he says "I'll love you all your days" I just want to give him the biggest hug ever cause he sounds so sad. I pretty much want to marry Ben Gibbard. His songs make my life. |
