When I listen to it and then read the lyrics,its political to me. I think it has to do with 2 things.Its about a relationship during a war. Almost like hes describing the pagan angel (war) and borrowed car (love/relationship) they both have their good and bad. He talks about planes and things still being there not matter what. The long term affects. "my love is one to break every bended knee", that last lyric hits me. Like the pagan angel( no matter the good out of the war, is still going to ruin the love/relationship ) between those two people. Thats how I see it when I listen to it. But, he makes it sound positive. Almost like he's being sarcastic. |

this song to me , is more powerful.I think APC grabbed more of the emotional side of it. This song makes you really really feel it. When I listen to lennons version its more all giddy.When I listen to APC, it really just grabs you I think. I like all the version , Jack Johnson did a good cover.Over all APC is my number one. Lennons on the last of my list (even if he is the one made the song). It would be awesome if lennon (if he still was alive) did an album or some sort of duet of a song !! that would be kickass. |

"Adia" is a Sarah McLachlan song that originally appeared on her 1997 album Surfacing. It was co-written by McLachlan and her longtime producer, Pierre Marchand. The song reflected the apology to her best friend for becoming involved with, and later marrying, her friend's ex-partner. "Adia" was the third of four songs from "Surfacing" to be released as a single. It was her most successful US single, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single, released July 7, 1998, contains four tracks: the radio mix of "Adia", the Surfacing mix of "Angel", the original studio version of "I Will Remember You" (as opposed to the live version included on the Mirrorball album, also released as a single), and a live version of "Building a Mystery".[1]

McLachlan was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards of 1999 for "Adia", losing to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On".[2]

although I can understand scientifically where everyone is coming from, I take this song differently. To me it means just shedding your old self and becoming something new.Getting rid of something thats holding you back, realising it and just transforming into something more in-tuned deep inside yourself. To me personally , this song doesnt feel like it has to do with drugs.
