Imagine Dragons – Nothing Left to Say Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Since that LyricFind thing overwrote them, here are the correct lyrics from the booklet that I originally submitted: Who knows how long I've been awake now? The shadows on my wall don't sleep They keep calling me Beckoning... Who knows what's right? The lines keep getting thinner My age has never made me wise But I keep pushing on and on and on and on There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... Below my soul I feel an engine Collapsing as it sees the pain If I could only shut it out I've come too far To see the end now Even if my way is wrong I keep pushing on and on and on and on There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... I keep falling, I keep falling down... If you could only save me I'm drowning in the waters of my soul There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... There's nothing left to say now... I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now... |
Imagine Dragons – Every Night Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I don't know when/if songmeanings will correct these, so here are the correct lyrics (from the booklet) that I originally submitted and were somehow overwritten: I'm coming home to you Every night... I'm the colorless sunrise That's never good enough I'm the wind that's in your hair That ruffles you up If you can find a reason You can let me know I won't blame you I'll just turn and go I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night... Searching to find myself But all I find is you I can hardly stand myself So what am I to you? If you can find a reason You could let me know I won't blame you I'll just turn and go I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night... No matter, no matter No matter what we're facing It don't matter, don't matter 'Cause the reason that I'm here Is the same through all these years Not changing, not changing Anything at all I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night... |

Early evening hush me over Father, father, father Are we just the same? John Lennon – Working Class Hero Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Capitalism means government stays out of business" Sorry, but no - "laissez-faire" capitalism means government stays out of business, but that's not the only form of capitalism that exists. The basic definition of capitalism is that the means of production (e.g. land, factories, machines, tools, etc.) are all privately owned. Individuals "sell" their labor, working for companies to make a product that will eventually be sold so that the owner(s) will make a profit. "what we have in the western world is not really capitalism, it's corporatism and it's bordering on communism. That's what you have when the government spends billions on what are often state-owned corporations..." No, that's wrong: the western world is definitely capitalistic. Corporatism? Yes, but that is supported right now by the capitalist system. I don't understand how you can say that this is "bordering on communism." Do you even know what communism means? Have you ever read Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels's _Communist Manifesto_? It is not what the capitalist governments would like you to believe in their propaganda against supposed communist nations. There has never yet been a true communist government - not the Soviet Union, not Cuba, not China, not North Korea. Those governments aren't communist, and they're not socialist either. Socialism is when the workers/laborers ("proletariat") own the means of production, not the capitalists ("bourgeoisie"). Marx predicted that there would have to be a revolution in order to accomplish this, much like the capitalist revolutions overturning the nobility (feudal system), such as the French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Glorious Revolution. That's partly also why a Communist revolution could not/did not work in Russia, which was largely feudal at the time, and you need a capitalist economy for a socialistic revolution to work correctly. The capitalist system as it is really is no different than slavery or indentured servitude. The worker is paid money, but he doesn't get nearly the profit that the owner does, who doesn't even do the work required to make the product! By having the means of production "publicly" owned by the workers (abolition of private property), the profits would go straight to those making the products - sort of like a company being employee-owned, just a little more extreme. Communism comes after socialism. Marx explains in the _Communist Manifesto_: "If the proletariat during its contest with the bourgeoisie is compelled ... to organize itself as a class, if, by means of a revolution, it makes itself the ruling class, and, as such, sweeps away by force the old conditions of production, then it will ... have swept away the conditions for the existence of class antagonisms and of classes generally, and will thereby have abolished its own supremacy as a class." So basically, even though the workers would likely have to organize themselves into a class by becoming the "ruling class," they would be eliminating the capitalist system in the process of gaining power. There would then be no more reason to have a class system, since the class distinctions would blur. Marx explained that communism is a classless, stateless form of society. It's the opposite of capitalism; no one is rich or poor - so there likely would be no money (which produces class distinctions in the first place) and no government/nation (stateless). It would pretty much be an egalitarian utopia. The closest type of society we've had to it in the past would probably be the hunter-gatherer type societies, but that's without the type of technology that we have today, which could raise the standards of living significantly for everyone. I'm not saying a true communist society is or could ever be possible, or if it would really progress naturally out of socialism (knowing that power corrupts), but that's what Marx proposed in his book. For some reason, the communist idea has recently taken on a negative connotation and a definition completely opposite from what was initially intended. That being said, I don't know why the USSR and other such countries were/are considered "communist." In communism, there would be no political parties, and therefore no political Communist Party in power. Now communism is pretty much as far left as one can go politically speaking, yet the USSR actually had a Left Opposition that was opposed to the Communist Party in power! So the USSR was *not* communist: there cannot be a true communist country that has an opposition that is more left than the party in power (even though in a true communist country, there wouldn't even be a party in power). The countries that have been labeled communist seem to have some fascist tendencies, since most (if not all) of them are led by dictators (Castro, Mao, etc) and have a single-party state. However, what they adhere most to is something called "state capitalism." This is yet another form of capitalism, since it involves money and labor, but this time the means of production are owned by the state/government, not the bourgeoisie/capitalists (as in regular capitalism) and not the proletariat/labor workers (as in socialism). So when people say that the recent bank and other corporate bailouts are socialist - they're not! Bailing out big businesses is state capitalism, which is in stark contrast to socialism/communism (or even laissez-faire capitalism in which those businesses would likely fail and new ones would be started up based on the needs of the free market). State-controlled corporations in which the workers themselves are not in control of the means of production is not what socialism is about, although it's probably what the current government in power would like you to believe - that socialism/communism is this big scary thing that wants to take away your freedoms. No, the current government, *right now*, is taking away your freedoms, and most people don't even realize it. |
