I'm convinced this song is about a bad trip on Mushrooms, or some psychedelic drug. Me being a psychonaut myself, I feel distinct similarities between the video and the lyrics pertaining to a bad-trip.
For example, him looking in the mirror and seeing himself, almost waging war with himself. Have you ever looked in the mirror while tripping on acid or shrooms? Exactly.
The video for this song is fantastic.
It's almost like you don't wanna accept yourself for who you truly are, we're scared of who we are inside because of our ego's, it's created false identities of ourselves since birth, thus: "terrified of what's inside (inside his mind)," and he wants to push this out of his head; "midday delusions of pushing this out of his head."
I've done a legal drug known as Salvia, and it almost resembles what goes on in the video. Especially in the music, those background vocals Quinn and Jeph do, "All alone," those voices are eerily identical to the voices I "heard" while tripping on Salvia, amongst other weird, unexplainable shit.
Anyway, go do Salvia, experience 5 minutes of Hell (it's a short but intense fuckin trip) and then watch this video! |

trippin off DXM and the end of the song ("..and this feels like heaven") almost go hand-in-hand. it trips me out everytime.
that speaking-verse is getting old and outdone though, i feel. feels as if i'm listening to Good Charlotte-Predictable when that joel dude starts bitching in his song. |
