i dont doubt that the majority of the influence comes from kevin devine actually, because in the spin.com interview that was posted earlier, he talks about how devine is one of his best friends. i do think he was influenced by both devine and mm though. who's to say he can't be influenced by more than one person or group of people? |

i tried so hard to not expect anything specific for the new stuff so that i wouldn't be let down, but i guess i sort of failed, because the first time i heard this i was a little bit disappointed. now that im reading comments here, im thinkin its because it does sound like nirvana meets modest mouse. shouldnt be surprised though since every album has its own distinct sound.
besides, the more i listen the more i love it. brand new will always be my favorite, and so meaningful to me, no matter what. pretty sure a lot of people here can agree with that |

definitely agree with xiaphias. the whole devil and god album make you think so much, but handcuffs just sort of lays it all out there. having a true story tied into it is pretty neat though |

this was the first song i heard, and it was thanks to my brother. he put it on a mixed cd that i asked him to make for me, and i think he did it because he oddly fits a lot of the descriptions of people in this song. i don't know, this song has always just meant a lot to me, not only because it reminds me of my brother letting me know he needs help in a suttle way, but because it's a simple sounding song that can be interpreted in a bunch of different ways. ya know what i mean? hah. i used to put it on repeat to fall asleep at night. probably wasn't the best idea though. it's soothing and calming, but it gets me thinking about too much. |

eh, i think it could make sense. without really taking the two weeks part into consideration, i always kind of thought of it as being about a cruddy relationship, and the only reason they stay together is because of, well, sex, and because they've been together for so long all ready that the thought of not being together just doesn't really occur to them. Then again I could be totally off too, hah |

i can tell this album is gonna be my favorite for the summer. and for some reason, as weird as it is, i love how he says neck:
