Jefferson Airplane – Triad Lyrics

this is one of the best nontraditional love songs i've ever heard--nontraditional in the sense that it is about polyamory, a lovely triad or group of three. It actually sounds more like a Vee though |

yes it was indeed a shame. he was a hero and a wonderful human being. i keep thinking about how his family's lives are destroyed now, women have one less person standing up for their reproductive rights, and the clinic in Wichita is closed now thus making it more difficult to obtain an abortion. All from a bullet and hatred.
RIP Doctor George Tiller. |

I'm going to say this, then kick my own a** for being such a nerd, then you guys can have a go at me as well. I am 21 and for as long as I can remember my brothers have been OBSESSED with, yes, the damn Transformers. They used to force me to watch the cartoons with them and the animated movie and force me to play with them and their Transformer action figures. You'll never guess what they did to me when the live action movie came to theaters.
I really have no opinion on them however I thought the animated movie was terribly depressing. Unicron was a bad mother ****** though! Anyway that being said, the first time I heard the lyric "We need to concentrate on more than meets the eye." immediately after, the first thing I think of-- Transformers. Yeah I know. So after you guys kick my a** for even saying this, I suggest we go kick my brothers' a**** for indoctrinating me with their 'Go-bots' and making me smile every damn time I hear that damn lyric!!!!!! |

about the line: Carve your name into my arm, instead of stressed i lie here charmed.
i thought that was about cutting too. People who SI do it to release pinned up emotion of some sort. When they cut/burn/whatever, they feel better and less stressed. They feel good because of the endorphins released when pain is inflicted.
I really thought more people would have thought that too. |

i completely agree the emotion is there, just bleeding on a page... this song should really have more comments, but i guess how wonderful this song is will just be our little secret ('our' being the people who post comments on this song). The guitar use in this song reminds me of The Byrds.... |

Placebo – Haemoglobin Lyrics

i orginally thought race regarding this song, but being that i'm chronically ill, i really like your idea
this song's been stuck in my head all today because earlier my Doc called me about my blood test result- my red blood cell count is 'deficiently' low, thus my haemoglobin isn't working up to speed, thus some body function is impaired. Anemia can cause mental and muscle weakness which reminds me of the line:
As they drag me to my feet
I was filled with incoherence |

Placebo – Space Monkey Lyrics

Yeah that the first thing I thought too because in my area, that's what the choking game is called...
Let me just dissect the lyrics a little bit, which sound a little hazy like they could be describing a trippy auto-erotic induced place:
An increase in population of a hundred percent
if an area increases by 100% that means that only one is there, only one was meant to be there, so maybe its the place someone goes to when unconscious
Raising the temperature 100 degrees
Being oxygen deprived may cause the body the raise in temperature but then again so can reaching climax so maybe its both
I die inside her
the Shakespearean reference to reaching orgasm here could work as well as literally dying because playing Space Monkey can cause death, or maybe dying inside her means, his love is dying because he doesn't want to do what she wants him to or because she's faking it, her love for him.... She is faking her love and it continually disappoints him...
I really like the idea of this song's ambiguity because yes it could be Space Monkey the choking game or it could be a Space Monkey meaning someone thats being made to suffer for someone else (like xiiyota said)...or maybe its both
Either way, it doesn't sound like a good place to be, it sounds to me like some sort of coercion or co-dependency is going on...

Low – Medicine Magazines Lyrics

i also think its about a drug addict, living with one, knowing that the only thing that can cure your loved one is themselves.
The aching heart bit comes from the addict not being happy (they are only at peace when high) and also from hurting others, put up a front and pretend this is want you want and that you aren't phased by hurting the non-addict.
Others not knowing where the addict is, not thinking they'd still be alive after all this time, get that far...
noonday has touched on the lyric about dying young..
who will walk you out when its all done -- this could be the co-dependent taking the addict home from their multiple attempts at rehab, or having called them from a party gone wrong... Who will be there tp pick up the pieces when this is all done? |

how can i be the only one to comment on this song... i love it but i dont know WTF its about.. its exactly like a Bug though because the first time i didn't really like it but i was drawn to it.. so i would wait with great eagerness for the radio to play it again, and again... and then it started to grow on me and i love it. |
