Frank put together “Ya Hozna” at a time when controversy over rock music lyrics was coming to a head (this would culminate in the Parents Music Resource Center hearing in September 1985.) Frank reversed the lyrics of “Sofa No. 2,” a couple of lines from “Lonely Little Girl” and his daughter, Moon, ad-libbing a Valley Girl exercise routine, and set them against an endless guitar loop in order to show how meaningless rock lyrics could really be.
A bit of worthless trivia: Anyone who is wondering where Frank came up with the nonsensical title “Ya Hozna” should reverse Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” and give it a listen.
