So many emotions in this song. I 'sent' it to my girlfriend and she got really confused. I understand why when you really read it. Who's the one that makes you happy. A great sentiment but a danger as you're asking the question not saying you are making me happy. 'It's what you give' always meant to me that it's more important what you give to somebody than what you take in a relationship. There's so much beauty but so much sadness in this song. A sort of longing but with love there. |

15 years of listening to this song and I never get tired of it. I was asked the other day what single song was my favourite. An all but impossible task but I would say this one. I've always drawn strength from the line 'I think there're pieces of me you've never seen', the idea that the other person didn't get to know you properly and you're better than they think. |

One of the most beautiful and haunting songs of all time. I heard it first as the theme tune to the film of the same name. I stood in the cinema at the end and just listened. Last year i separated from my wife and this song perfectly desribes the experience. The sadness of an ending but the possibilities that open up. I never did work out the exact meaning of 'unhook the stars'. I always took it to mean pack up and move on. |
