When I listen to this song I can't hear any other meaning, except a gay relationship. She sounds like she's singing to her lover who is leaving her for a man, "don't stray, my kind's your kind, I'll stay the same." She sees men as unable to provide the depth of love that she can for her lover, "they don't love you like I love you." It feels like the dialogue when her lover has made up her mind and is leaving: At the beginning I hear her say "I'm straight" not "I've strayed." So the lover that's leaving is saying "I'm straight, enough" (to live the life that's easier in this day.) So she's decided to do so. And the rest of the song is the singer's end pleading for her to stay, but by the feeling of the song it's like she's drowning in despair, as if it's too late to change her lover's mind. (Who may have already left.) |

I think: "The wife forgave the mistress For she only entertained The pain was gone the instant She cleared her throat to speak her name Said, “Both of us must suffer From this same unending ache.” Speaks on the fact that the mistress only "entertains" and doesn't actually hold the love of the man, and the wife may have him in marriage, but she doesn't have his attention. In this way, neither of them have love, and both of them suffer the same ache. |

Also, she's not ripping off other music, that's how M.I.A. makes songs, she samples other bands and music for inspiration. It's not stealing either. |

You guys seriously need to look up slang before trying to comment on M.I.A. songs. amauris17 is right, "People judge me so hard cuz I don't floss my titty set" is the right lyric and the term "floss" means to show off. She's commenting on how people expect female artists to use their bodies to sell records. "But we still like T.I." is also correct, and it comes before "But we still look fly." The 7th line of the songs is "So they gonna use the shit just to get by." It's "shanty town" not "shanty teem". |

At first I thought this might be about her relationship with Diplo, but after reading what she has to say about it, it makes a lot of sense. |
