Wilco – The Lonely 1 Lyrics

I'm not sure who it's about or even from what perspective it's sung, it's impossible to say, and I think it's meant to be ambiguous.
But I really love it and I play it over and over and over!!! especially the spare demo version where at the end it sounds like Tweedy says it was good, and perhaps the cello or violin player says "I screwed up."
My feeling, and it's just me transferring my own perspective, is this song is about unrequited love. Much the way the love fans have for musicians is one way.
I also see this song as about the unrequited love between a man and a woman. I'm just a fan ... he wants to be more than that. |

The movie imagery is very cool and has me wondering what if any movie or show is the inspiration for this scene?
Also how can you beat "she's filing her nails while they're dragging the lake" - you can't!
The little finger reference is definitely about sex and not a gun except figuratively. Just watch any of the 1977 and 1979 live videos and I think that will become obvious. |

I never gave much thought to the meaning of the lyrics because the tune/beat is so great and the words sound so cool - I'm inclined to think it's about an underage Lolita. It's pretty fun to watch older videos of this on youtube - some have a pretty credible dub/reggae feel - and I think that's RAD :) |

Titus Andronicus – No Future Part III: Escape from No Future Lyrics

i agree - the lou reed/vu waiting for my man reference in the pharmacy is a pretty clear indicator - and the man down below (in the dungeon) doesn't respond to anti-depressants and still says "you will always be a loser :)" - i can identify with this sentiment - always wanting to be better than you are - thinking you suck (even if you don't) could be a good strategy to make yourself better - or just more depressed. |

M.I.A. – Paper Planes Lyrics

i believe she is saying "hit-me-up-on-a-prepaid-wireless" the confusion is the in the intonation, and accent, and that it's got to match the beat.........although i can see where banner or burner might fit, i think it just sounds that way, e.g. hi-me-up"ON"uh-pree-paid-why-less. |
