Amanda Palmer – The Point of It All Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's definitely "Fuck all", not "They'll call". |
Otep – Ghostflowers Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this is about a girl who finds fault with herself and hurts people around her because of it. "And she's a killer, And she's a keeper" She thinks that she may have been an accidental child, and that no one notices her. "Am I blurry in your vision? Was I just a poor decision?" She makes up things that she thinks are wrong with her, and, again, hurts those around her because of it. "She's picking ghostflowers from her soul, She's clipping the wings of fallen angels" She seems to be threatening the world with her suicide, or perhaps has already commited suicide and is swearing vengeance. "You will know me by the scars I bare, You will know me by the hate, I swear" |
Nine Inch Nails – Right Where It Belongs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me this song is about a corrupt culture (American?) which alienates "outsiders" (possibly, in this case, people such as Muslims) because it thinks they are evil or corrupt, but really is no better. This culture is afraid to examine itself because deep down, it knows what it is doing is wrong. It isolates itself in its own fantasy world with things such as religion to protect itself from the truth. My favourite part of the song is "You keep looking but you can't find the woods, Now you're hiding in the trees". I take this to mean that the true monster is the society that is the subject of the song, not the people it conceives to be its enemies. |
