Bob Dylan – If You See Her, Say Hello Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Theres no one better then Dylan when it comes to expressing his feelings. |
Bob Dylan – Not Dark Yet Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Its not dark yet but its getting there, I think is something we can all identify with and some point in our lives. Use time wisely “because the days are evil” is the advice from the Bible. I think darkness or blackness or shadows is a metaphor for evil, or for death. Impending doom. Dylan certainly captures a universal feeling here that most of us will experience. |
Bob Dylan – Senor (Tales of Yankee Power) Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Great song....all about wanting to know the truth, the real truth from Señor or the Lord. Its a desperate plea for help...so happens this came right before his conversion to Christ. |
Bob Dylan – Is Your Love in Vain? Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Great red carpet intro...his heart is aching for true love |
Bob Dylan – Most of the Time Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Honesty shines through here...some of the time he's weak, heartbroken, haunted, etc... |
Bruce Springsteen – Nothing Man Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Nothing man is about a man who survived a terrible ordeal, and is deemed a hero by the local paper. "Nothing" man alludes to his humble state, but glad to be alive. I think he gives credit to God for his survival, perl and silver could refer to his cross necklace, and again the Lord's courage is highlighted instead of his own. |
Bruce Springsteen – Stolen Car Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Stolen car is a metaphor for a person in desperation, whose heart is broken, whose emotional life is in turmoil. |
Bob Dylan – Make You Feel My Love Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Its obviously a great love song, wonderful description of a higher love. It sounds too unbelievable or amazing to be Bob's love or human love, more like the love of God: A love that won't give up. A love that is faithful. A love that is patient. No matter how much a person refuses it, this kind of love understands. |
Bob Dylan – Standing in the Doorway Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Standing in the doorway, another great Dylan title/metaphor. There's no one that comes up with song titles and song hooks, better than Bob Dylan. Here he is obviously, in the throes of a love gone bad, a theme that seems to run throughout his song career. It seems as though songwriting is his therapy to deal with the painful difficult situations or predicaments he finds himself in. And sharing it is just as important to him too. |
Bob Dylan – Not Dark Yet Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Bob Dylan is a great poet, songwriter, artist. This song is pure art. A song about our times. And I feel it excellently captures our times, like many of his hundreds of songs do. "It's not dark yet, but its gettin' there." is a true, wonderful metaphor for the period we are in, and for the period or the state many of us find ourselves in. Its universal. It's how Bob feels, but also how many of us feel. Its like the last stages of autumn before the winter...its not cold yet buts its getting there, or the last stages of a person's life...I'm not dead yet, but I'm getting there. Obviously, Bob's raw descriptions of this state of affairs are depressing. Life is wiltering like a flower and dying, though it was once beautiful in its blooming prime. And there's not much Bob admits, here in his song, he can do about it, except reminiscence or try and describe what has happened. He's kind of resigned himself to the fact that's in inevitable. Bob Dylan again captures the feelings and emotions so well of this state of mind or life. |
Bob Dylan – Tryin' to Get to Heaven Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Great song, from another great album. This song to me eloquently captures the depressed mood of someone, who has seen and experienced a lot of life, but as he gets older he finds himself in a world or in a country that's in great turmoil, so his goals, his dreams, his hopes of a better world in the promised afterlife have become more prevalent in his mind and in his heart. He's just passing through a difficult, problematic world heading toward the Kingdom of Heaven. |
Bruce Springsteen – Devils & Dust Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Right on IndigoARoo, exactly, a song about what it must feel like to be a soldier in Iraq, and all the moral and fearful dilemnas he faces... and "faith aint...enough" meaning this war shouldn't be. Reminds me of the old saying, "Watch out you dont become the monster you are fighting against." |
Bruce Springsteen – Racing in the Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Its a brilliant song, one of his best, about the thrills of car racing, and like most B Springsteen songs, theres a metaphor for the thrills and excitement of life, as well as their dangerous sides, Michael |
