Our Lady Peace – Mettle Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Well those aren't the lyrics I submitted. Part of the second verse is wrong and most of the spoken parts have changed. I'll post what I had below. Chuvalo's parts are in the brackets. [Boxing helps. I guess... I think it toughens your mind. I think you push yourself beyond certain limits, past certain limits as a fighter. The worst thing in the world is to be in a fight and to get tired. You don't want to get tired in a fight.] You say you can show me, but you don't know me You won't and never will You say that you can owe me, you think you know me But you're wrong [No matter how much natural ability you have, there's a lot of work in it. You know, you don't need... Muhammad Ali was a great fighter but if he didn't train as hard as he did, he would never be the Muhammad Ali that he did become so... you know, you have to train hard, you have to devote yourself one hundred percent.] [You can't be a success if you don't have any part of it. Like if you're not disciplined. You need discipline. You need discipline to do things. And the discipline, you can do without things, you know?] [No matter if we say we believe this, we believe that, you know... there's certain things we believe. But just how strongly we believe is a matter, you know... it's what we want to believe. A force much stronger than us, a power... a power much more powerful, you know? But we still don't know. No matter how much we think we believe, we still tremor at the thought of dying. You know, mostly we shiver, it's, uh, like I'll die, or once, my opponents have died, or almost died, you know? There's something out there. But just to me it's like the great unknown. You know? I don't know.] [One of the most important things in life is to have people who care about you, and that you care about, you know? Love is the magic word, it is, you know? If it wasn't for love I wouldn't be here today.] |
Boy Hits Car – Erifsievol Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'm hearing "love is fire, sin, and erifsievol" too, so I assume that's correct. And erifsievol is loveisfire backwards. The song seems pretty straightforward as far as meaning goes, just hoping the one he loves, loves him back. |
They Might Be Giants – Particle Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't know just who the hell Triangle Man thinks he is, but how dare he hog two verses to himself in a song about our hero Particle Man? It seems unfair to emphasize Triangle Man where his only accomplishment is to beat up both Particle Man and Person Man just because he hates them. Having said that, though, I must admit that our faith in particle man may not be well-founded. After all, we don't really know what he's like, but there must be something if Triangle Man hates him so. But at the same time, Triangle man hates Person Man. What could Triangle Man have against Person Man, a person that has been clubbed in the skull with a cooking utensil and now spends his days depressed and living in a garbage can? Does Particle Man also hate Person Man, or are they partners united by their hate of Triangle Man? Also a concern is, what is Particle Man doing underwater? Just what does it mean for all of us if the water actually does get him? Would the now him water in turn get us him? Is getting him a good thing, or bad? If bad, can we recover from catching the him? Finally, what part does Universe Man play? Whose side is he on? He's usually kind to smaller men, but if he's the size of the entire universe (man) then Particle Man, Person Man, and Triangle Man are all smaller men. He could very well be on Triangle Man's side if he allows him to simply beat up the two others, especially when one of those two has brain damage from a previous encounter with a frying pan. Such an occurrence would explain the exception identified by the use of the term 'usually'. But why would his watch need minute, millennium, and eon hands? Does his watch face still go to 12? does this mean he wishes to measure up to 12 eons? For what reason? Fucked if I know. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Meet Me on the Equinox Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I don't care at all for the whole twilight thing, so I can't really relate the lyrics to that, but I reckon that UNsweetT has the meaning pretty spot on. |
Chris Walla – The Score Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is bloody awesome. Just one complaint with the posted lyrics, I think "and we run a tight thing" should be "and we've done the typing". I think it's about soldiers in general, fighting a war that many oppose ("on and on we argue..."), and in the process going through extreme hardship ("on and on we bled so long..."), only for soldiers of the future to be sent in to repeat it all ("they're bound to ship those children out") Excellent job Chris! |
