This song is kind of iffy to me. There's nothing wrong with black people being proud to finally have one of their own race as president.. But I really think that some of them take it too far. As much as it's racist to not vote for someone cause they're black, it's just as racist TO vote for him just because he's black. A lot. A LOT. of black people in the New Orleans area didn't think twice about voting for him, they didn't care what he had to say or what he was going to do they just voted for him because he was black. And then this song came out, and honestly, I think it's stupid. It shouldn't matter that he IS black. It's turned from being proud into "rubbing it in whitey's face." At least it is for many of the black people down here. Or really, anyone who lives/lived in the ghetto around here, sometimes it's not even the black people. Generally, its the uneducated people who do stuff like write songs like this.. My friend voted for Obama, but he isn't rubbing it in anyones face that he won. He just watches the news and waits for change, like the rest of the educated people. This is borderline racism, in my opinion. And then, when someone says this song is racist they get it thrown back in their face. I haven't read all the comments for this, but I know people who have said something about this song in other places and were told that THEY were racist for thinking that. |

| I wouldn't be suprised if these kids smoked pot or did some form of drug. It really does have a kind of beatles vibe to it. I read somewhere that they were kind of going for that, I believe? I forgot exactly. | |

I agree with the lost love kind of thing. I think that maybe the "york hotel hall" or whatever is a place that maybe he met his lover or a place they used to go or went once upon a time. And the lovers ghost haunts the place and he remembers times they spent with each other and he "hopes she'll come back" since "she never really said goodbye" or saying that they she fell out of love and forgot about him or something. |
