Five Iron Frenzy – One Heart Hypnosis Lyrics

I am sure this song is about social media and our phones, but I am curious if anyone has an insight on the chorus. I am guessing the "1, 2, 3, 4 hearts" has to do with "likes" on posts on the different platforms. Great song! |

I know that Toots and the Maytals has a recording of this song that far predates it but I wonder where the original came from? Is this a Toots cover or does it go back further? |

I can't quite tell if this an indictment against Etheiopians converting to Christianity or about Etheiopians regarding Haile Selassie as the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. I'm guessing it's about the first (But wishing it were about the second). |

Josh played this song at my friends funeral. I wasn't there but now when I listen to it I think about those deaths that come suddenly and don't make sense. Knowing that he played it there shed some special light on the song's meaning. |

This song is haunting. I love it! A song about sin and regret. Sounds like an affair maybe. Something treacherous that ruined a relationship. |

Hm, good thinknig iamjohnshelton. Traditionally John has also been known as the disciple whom Jesus loved. Given that the song is called Beloved that might also lend to your idea. |

OK, the guitar solo towards the end of the song is an adaptation of some worship song... anyone know what it is... I can't put my finger on it! |

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows." - Luke 12:6-7 I think Dustin must have had this passage in mind. |

Anberlin – The Art of War Lyrics

"Because of you I'll never write another love song" somehow I doubt that. But as I thought about it the phrase could be read 2 ways. The way I doubt is that Steven will literally never write another love song but if you read it a little different like "I'll never write another love song BECAUSE of you" it works. Very creative lyric filled with dispair and hope at the same time. He'll write more love songs, but none because/due to/about her. I like it! |

Anberlin – Pray Tell Lyrics

I didn't read Steven's explaination but there must be more going on here. Certainly he doesn't believe that HE is the only one who can save "you." While I'm sure Steven has similar feelings, I listen to this song as given from the perspective of Jesus. I think people have an aversion to the gospel because they, at heart, think Christ needs them when in reality it is they who need from Him. |

What a great song. I wonder if the last stanza starts with "No I did not pour out these SIDES" instead of Tides? Refering to Christ being pierced for our transgressions. Great song about human pride. |

This is my favorite song off the album. Only problem... not sure what it is about. The bridge does sound like memoirs from a tour (perhaps). Anyone with insight would be great. The songs are always better when you know what they are singing about. |

mewithoutYou – The Angel of Death Came to David's Room Lyrics

That Goliath line threw me at first too... but I don't think that this song is really about the afterlife but rather that THIS life ends for all men. The point is Goliath is dead and now you are about to join him (among those who have died). At least I hope that's what Aaron is getting at. Death is the great leveler, regardless of good (killing goliath) or evil (being goliath). I wonder if Psalm 16:10 comes in to play here at all... |

mewithoutYou – Bullet to Binary (Pt. Two) Lyrics

I love the imagery in this album! Aaron has used it throughout mewithoutYou but it is so prevalent in this album. All of the plants and animals. I love it.
As far as this song goes I feel like it is a call to righteous living. I love what the potato says to the lettuce. Sin is not so glamorous as WE make it out to be. The only inherant value lies in the creatures reflection of a great creator.
Any ideas what "Bullet to Binary" could mean? |

Five Iron Frenzy – All That Is Good Lyrics

I'm down with thunderdrummer. The line "use your mind to use your soul" is what stuck out to me in the song before posting here. It is so easy, especially in todays church, to just stop thinking. I believe that the Bible is the word of God and it can be trusted but I also aknowledge that we are human and we are going to/need to question and interact with perfection/truth. You can't discount the reality of doubt. The more you close your eyes the less important Christ's sacrifice becomes. |

I love this song. I think that it is the best epic so far. The lyrics make it. It is so encouraging to listen to. It is totally apocolyptic and yet there is so much hope in it also. There is hope in warnings. I love the last part. Look children to the eastern sky. Very encouraging. Not jsut for the Apocalypse |

Anberlin – Breathe Lyrics

Who cares about the meaning?!? I've only just heard the song for the first time but meaning is something that really seems to be marking this album. I have loved Anberlin but the songs have seemed fairly shallow (with exceptions of course) until this album. Music without meaning gets old really fast. This is a great song about... well surrender. Meaning is everything. |

Yea. I'm not sure if it's as blatant as that but certainly along those lines. Like, they take part in things that they know are wrong, somehow, and perhaps see that it is wrong through seeing others doing the same thing. They want someone to stop it all. The sins of others and those of themselves... |

Brave Saint Saturn – Starling Lyrics

So, they just posted the final mix of the song on their myspace. Here are correct lyrics (I think...):
Filthy Bird Laying on our lawn
4 chambered heart never beat so heart
Dad said she was almost gone
Upside down out on our lawn
And I could hold her in a shoe box
if she heals she could be mine
and if I can not save her spirit
Dad says I should break her spine
Shaking brilliant, silver black wings
Jesus Christ what prayers these dare sing (?)
Wear your hearts out on your sleaves
for starlings, starlings
All the least of all of these are
Starlings, starlings
Two years pass I pump the chamber
full of air to shoot the birds
harmless game to hit them slightly
Scare them off in other words
Stalling, falling to her death
Piercing copper steals her breath
See the flower in her breast (?)
starving babies in her nest
Raise our souls up to the sky
Why must helpless creatures die?
Every breath, has sacred weight
Every life has some design
Yet we kill and posess faith (?)
Speak of life, while taking grace
So, yea, not too sure about a couple words. Looking forward to the release! This song is awesome and seems to be about... well the bridge says it best. We understand the preciousness of life but disregard it all the time. Like understanding the great value and expense of our salvation and the love of God but yet we sin against him all the time. Peace. |

It is interesting that Reese uses a plural "hearts" towards the end. Perhaps a reference to the trinity. What do folks think it means for God to wear his heart on his sleave? |

Wow, I too am looking forward to the album. The vocals sound really distant or at least too quiet. Maybe it's just that way in this demo version. Great lyrics. I think this sound is pretty straight forward but powerful. We are all crushed and dieing, in need of a savior. I |

Emery – Rock-N-Rule Lyrics

What do y'all think this song is about? At first read I have considered it to be sort of a tough love story. It is hard to invest yourself in someone and then have them chase after other things. You can't grab them and pull them back, you just have to move on and hope that someday they turn back. That's my thought. |

Emery – You Think You're Nickel Slick (But I Got Your Penny Change) Lyrics

There seems to be such a hugely common theme in this album. Sex. This song sounds to be about mistakes, regret, hopelessness and in the same breathm, hope. I could be wrong, of course, but it sounds like the theme of driving bounces back and forth between a woman (or sexual sin) controling a life and God controling a life. That longing for purity and wishing that God would take hold of the adicted life and turn it around. Thoughts? |

Emery – Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus Lyrics

This is a really fun song with, I fear, a very dark side (surprise, it's Emery!). This song sounds like it's about a date rape or prom night. Sung from the perspective of the selfish man whose "paid his dues." The lyrics are pretty good but I am not so sure about the "All us sat here by candlelight" line. I don't know what to suggest but I don't think that is right. Can't wait till tomorrow! Great that they released on MySpace. |
