I heard this for the first time about a week ago, and it will not get out of my brain. When I listen to it, I have vast, sweeping visualizations of deserts and wild animals, and seeds growing up out of the earth into trees. Earth revolving around the sun, nature doing her thing. But who's the guy with the heliocentric plan? I feel like the lyrics must be in reference to something, but whatever it is, I am unfamiliar. Maybe it's something in literature. If anyone knows, I'd love to be enlightened. |

this is one of my favorite NMN songs. As far as the meaning behind it... well, I think it's about people who exist instead of live. letting life pass them by without even noticing or caring.
I love how bitterly sarcastic they can be in their lyrics and delivery! |

I agree with the first comment. I remember reading about this song before I heard it, and feeling a connection to it immediately. It's definitely about a man who is narcissistic, and blames a woman from his past for his problems (Been there, done that). I've heard that it's about her first husband, Eric, but I don't have a source to back that up. |

I definitely agree with the last comment. To push things further, I think it's about someone getting married for all the wrong reasons, and all the wrong reasons are like a veil that keeps them from seeing the neglect/abuse coming from their partner. Or, the person they married isn't the same person anymore and they refuse to see it. ("I can't dress up a dead man...") |
