Mad Caddies – Backyard Lyrics 15 years ago
It can go one of two ways... but I think either way, it's about weed.

1. Some guy who is self-medicating (with the stuff that's growing in his back yard) "How can you navigate the maze of your medicated haze?" is fucking up his life and needs to end the addiction. "Your dependency grows as your mind gets soft
Unlock the doors and let your soul back in
And wake up, wake up, wake up"

2. It's a claim that prescription medication is as bad or worse than weed. The chorus seems to suggest this, and this jab they took at western society...
"You only complicate it with your western made sight
How can you justify what's so clear in your eyes?"

In the first case, however, the chorus could be a statement of denial, as in "this stuff in my back yard is all I need, I don't have a problem". Either way, there's some truth in the song.

anyway, the caddies rock, they can do no wrong.

Saves the Day – As Your Ghost Takes Flight Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm going to add my personal interpretation of this song, I kind of had an epiphany about it while thinking about how pissed I am at my ex. The whole thing is about revenge against someone you used to love. The first verse is pretty gruesome and fairly self explanatory, this is what you want to do to the person. Then the breakdown, starting with "you've become a ghost", is about the last moments of their life slipping away as you remember how beautiful and dream-like this person used to be. The second verse throws away that image of beauty as quickly as it came with a return to the almost frantic pace of the rest of the song. "It's nothing but dying" means that it's not that big a deal, this is what you want the person to go through. "Got a grenade stuck in your teeth..." this is the person's words, the things they have said that destroyed you and made you want to do this. "You're an illusion..." means that what you used to see of the person is gone, that dream-like quality they used to have has turned into bitterness.

I suppose I'm interpreting it this way because of my current circumstances, but that's the beauty of music, isn't it? The point is not to know the writer's intended meaning, but for the music to have personal meaning to whoever listens to it.

it's the lyrics, they're so weak compared to other saves the day songs

Saves the Day – Get Fucked Up Lyrics 16 years ago
*puke*
I think Chris gave up on writing lyrics. How does "I feel like all the stars are falling inside my heart" even begin to compare to something like "you've become a ghost, you're floating somewhere in between the waking world and a landscape of dreams"?

I love Saves the Day to death, and I like the new album, but Chris' lyrical genius peaked at In Reverie. Under the Boards is filled with shallow, cliché, literal verses that pale in comparison to the deep, sorrowful, metaphoric lyrics of previous works. It's difficult to listen to this album knowing how utterly sublime StD *can* be.

Chamberlain – Surrendering The Ghost Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about breakup... He hears the girl's name in the sounds of a train, and he remembers when he stayed up late with her (mad hours), and misses it a little. But he was a coward then, the darkness of night represents the relationship, and he shuddered at light, anything that would jeopardize the relationship. But then there was someone else, a sad girl who he cares about, and can't stand to see that way. This makes him realize what he really wants, he's been in the dark too long, he wants out of this relationship and he wants to heal this new girl's wounds.

This band is so amazing, their lyrics are poetry.
