shortgirl...do you have any idea of what selling out is? The only difference between the old DC when Chris started it as a side project and now is that he has a full band. The music's always had the same meaning, same relative sound, he just happened to get big off of Screaming Infidelities. Selling out is changing your sound entirely to gain popularity...Chris has always written his music for him, and if people like it, than they like it. I love it how every band that gains remote popularity nowadays is labeled a sellout...the people that do that aren't fans of the music, they're fans of the image. You might as well go listen to rap if you want to buy image. |

Conor doesn't have the greatest voice, anyone will admit that. But he uses it more than anyone else. When other people sing notes, Conor sings feelings, he sings pain, he uses his voice better than anyone.
This is currently my favorite Bright Eyes song. I learned the guitar to it, so I'm thinking of performing it during a show with my band, or maybe at a school talent show, but I'm working on getting out the fear of butchering it. Heh...Conor amazes me. |

Hmm...my first post seems somewhat vague. Basically, the "cars crash and we collide" made me think of that exact thing. You've been in a huge collision, and now you're reflecting on life, and the person you loved throughout it all.
The first verse was from the person in the crash's perspective, and the second was from their love's, who will be alone now. I don't think it's a matter of breakup, I think it's just a matter of losing someone dear to you, and just learning to make the most of everything. |

Ugh...everyone loves this song so much...I can't even stand the Swiss Army version. I have always thought this was one of the worst songs Chris ever wrote. The Swiss Army Romance and Drowning EP were two brilliant albums, but it went downhill from there...he needs to evolve at least somewhat. Every one of his songs sound so much alike, and they're mostly all based on the same situation. This made brilliant songs back when he first started Dashboard, but it's getting stale now. |
