Violent Soho – Eightfold Lyrics

@[siddharthag:16930] That's a keen insight, but the rest of the song doesn't really match with, especially considering the line is "I won't eightfold", there are other spiritual references like "holy shakes" and "glossolalia" which are Christian references. The album has quite a few spiritual references, I'd not be surprised to here that some of the band went to church at some point in their life. |

I think this song has a nostalgic quality. Looking back on a period of time with a smile having grown up since then. |

I like the family member interpretation and the reference to Cain and Abel and then the lamb and Abel.
I still think it's about a bitter and broken lover relationship. The references in the lyrics don't seem to fit the other types except the Abel and lamb interpretation.
The line "That's the body" could fit the lamb referencing Cain murdering Abel but the lamb was dead at that point??
Amazing song though! Far out it's amazing! |

Pretty odd lyrics for this band, my thoughts are that it is some kind of protest anti-war song. Not really sure though. It is different to a lot of their other songs and the melody is so very catchy. |

I think this song is about growing and learning and loving life for what it is and not trying to be something or rather make it something it is not. |

Ha anyone else heard the similarities between this song and Re-wired?
If you lissten at 1:50 on Vlad the Impaler and just before the choruses on Re-wired(starts building from 1:03, very loud at 1:11-1:15) you will hear the same riff on the guitar... any connection? Not sure but just something I noticed. |

i'm also contemplating whether Kimbra's verse is a response to a lover who already has a past, not someone she shares a past with.
either way that verse and their vocals together are awesome, the entie song is genius!
love it, all the way from boardface. |

Third Eye Blind – Never Let You Go Lyrics

"Break a promise to your mother", this seriously reminds me of an ex of mine.... her mum didn't like me very much but we still tried to be friends and kept on fooling around with eachother even tho she knew her mum hated it.
the "turn around, your back on each other" oart would be like trying to go separate ways but ending up "back on each other"... thats my thoughts, especially the part " all i knoow is thats its worng, its wrong, all our friends are gone, are gone" thats how i see it, coz that's what happened to me, getting stuck in the past on this one girl very bad for your health even tho you love it.... it's a strnage place to be in and one that i'm glad im not any more!! still i think about her every now and then, this song is easy to understand if you've been there :D |

The last chorus lyrics are wrong!!
When i won't need these arms anymore
When i won't need this heart now to love
I won't need this skin and bones
I think the song is about dying and going to heaven. Living forever, the future.... |

Jeff Buckley – I Woke Up in a Strange Place Lyrics
| 14 years ago

The line here "I made a call for a blackened cab" sounds much more like
"I made a call from my black death cab" same in the verse below.
" I met a ride in that blackened cab" should be " I made a ride in that black death cab"
"My best intentions become facts again" sounds more like "best intentions become accidents" and it makes more sense.
I've been listening to the mystery white boy album tho
I really think it's much more than just alcoholism, sounds like a guy who has died and left it all behind, whether the death is real or alcoholism is his death i dunno?? but there is more in this song, very Jeff Buckley deep and melancholic. great song! is there a studio version??

Yeah I can't figure it out but i love it. I think you're on the right track tho sarahfay... the line about being blind then he could see now he is blind again reminds me of something Jesus said in the bible about how those who say they see see cannot because of their pride and those who are blind will be able to shown the truth. As a youth he is learning to see (blind) then as a young man he thinks he can see and he grows he realises that he doesn't really see much(blind again) kinda in depth and probably way off.... It's a great song full of wonderful imagery and lyrics.
I think it's about making the most of what you have and playing the cards you are dealt |

I think this song is amazing, and as far as I can tell it's about a man who killed the 16 year old in the 1st verse.
He feels extremely guilty and remorseful about it as sung in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th verses, very touching I might add in verse 4 singing about his sister. The 5th verse I'm not too sure perhaps his grave stone? or the waiting cell while he is to be hanged?? The 6th verse however escapes me... however Tasmania features a few times in the album |

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Red Right Hand Lyrics

If this song is about God, His son Christ and His Spirit, it's a very distorted view. Perhaps someone impersonating God like the Devil or a very greedy remorseless man. Pretending give but really only taking. If you really wanna know about God read the bible and talk to Him personally. The man described in the song is not God nor His Son nor His Spirit. |

I think it's about him talking down all the things he hates about himself. The bull pawing the turf sounds like "the bull" is all talk and no action...
The last verse is interesting the Pack of Cigarettes refernce is to the Phillip Morris logo whic has Veni Vidi Vici written on it. |

I don't think this song is about John Howard... or Kevin Rudd. I think its about the bullshit all political leaders throw out. trying to compare our current PM and saying he is better/worse than our last one is kinda silly. besides Kevin Rudd is handing out th tax breaks not johnny. Kevin Rudd hasn't changed anything and proabaly won't and neither will someone after him. It's about us as a people waking up to ourselves and ceasing to be selfish and greedy, the love of money is the root of all evil. |

I think xoallylynn and big tyme are both kinda right, perhaps maybe a night stand where the bloke and girl don't really know each other they have *consentual* sex and rather than take it further the bloke just prefers to leave it at that where as the girl perhaps wants to make a relationship. Thoughts yes? no? |

If you check out night drive, i think you might find that in this song as caramelprisoner put it "the girl...." may actually not be a girl, unless of course he performed Night Drive for someone else like Blink 182 with Adam's song, however this song is brilliant musically and lyrically very clear message summed up by the last 4 lines. |

This song is awesome, I love nothing more than driving especially on a hot summer nite around 11-12 when there is little or no traffic, driving round with no destination just enjoying it all with someone special. By The Way does anyone know if Gotye is gay? the lines "favourite boy" surprised me. Awesome artist |
