Primus – Jerry Was a Race Car Driver Lyrics 15 years ago
Knate15 messed up the lyrics near the end of the song. It's not "Had one to many cold beers one night,
wrapped himself around a telephone pole.", it's

"On two medical bars one night, wrapped himself around a telephone pole."

And by "medical bars", Les means Xanax bars, a benzodiazepine which is used for anxiety or depression. It also has sedative and muscle relaxant qualities.

I love how you can hear the frogs at the end of this song. It's great how it leads into "Frogs".

Alice in Chains – Brush Away Lyrics 16 years ago
I think when he says "I try to get away, and yet I stick around" he means he wants to quit his addiction, but he just keeps using. I think that the "ground" in the song is the 'Heroin plain" as I like to call it. "So fall and crawl away" I think refers to using the drug and falling right in the abyss of addiction and how you can never leave it. I also think that the main part of the song "And Brush Away loose ground" means to just brush off the people who are trying to help.

I doubt that made sense, but whatever. I'm pretty high.

This song is seriously an account of my teen years.

I think this song is pretty much self-explanatory. Like most of today's music.

Alice in Chains – Sunshine Lyrics 16 years ago
No relation, I'd say the songs about Layne's father.
"Then some dude came down to touch the Mother
Mother touched and dude ain't here no more." I think refers to how Layne's father met Layne's mother, had sex with her (touched the mother), then she had Layne, and then Layne's father left (Dude ain't here no more).

Alice in Chains – No Excuses Lyrics 16 years ago
I'd say it's about Jerry being frustrated about Layne's addiction.

Alice in Chains – Grind Lyrics 16 years ago
I thought it was about dispelling rumors that the band had broken up. "In the darkest hole, you'd be well advised not to plan my funeral for the body dies." I interpret as "Don't say that we've broken up until you've heard it from us."

Alice in Chains – Hate To Feel Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah, I would say it's about his drug addiction. The "Shit's sustenance" line, refers to how H is like food. And I should know, I did Heroin a few times and got hooked like fuck.

I always thought it was about doing drugs at a young age, namely Coke.

Alice in Chains – Bleed The Freak Lyrics 16 years ago
I would say it's about self-abuse. That we all just have to "bleed the freak" within us.

Alice in Chains – Heaven Beside You Lyrics 16 years ago
It's from their self-titled, AKA "Tripod".

I say it's about a good person with rage inside. The "Heaven beside you" could refer to that the person is good, possibly religious, but, "Hell within" could say that the person is evil and full of hate.

Alice in Chains – God Smack Lyrics 16 years ago
I would say that this song was about when he did Heroin with his father. Staley Sr. left the family when Layne was little, then after hearing about his success, he tracked him down, they talked, then they shot up. But Layne realized that his father didn't love him, he just loved his success. "For the horse you've grown much fonder" was Layne's idea that his father like Heroin more than him. And "What in God's name have you done?" was Layne asking why his father got him hooked, because that was the first time Layne did H, or so I've heard.

Alice in Chains – Head Creeps Lyrics 16 years ago
I do say it's about his (Layne's) addiction. "No more time" represents his urge to quit, whereas "One more time" I think, refers to the "Head Creeps" in his head, telling him just one more.

Layne didn't write this song, he only wrote 39 songs for AIC, 26 lyrics, 3 by himself.

Anyways, I think it's from Jerry's point of view about Layne's addiction. Kind of like No Excuses. "You have always told me you'd not live past 25." I think Layne was pretty open about his addiction with Jerry (and to the entire world!) and he would tell him he'd not live past 25.
