I'm not sure if those are the correct lyrics,
but I'm getting reassurance from the artist,
so hold on to your shorts.

South Park – Kyle's Mom Is A Bitch Lyrics 16 years ago
I disagree - I particularly find the movie version funnier. The original was just...corny, I suppose? I don't know. But I also missed that specific episode completely and never heard the song until the movie, so maybe that's my problem. o-o;

"She's a super king Kamehameha biotch"

Okay well - interpretation anyone?
:DDD

Just kidding.
I tried singing this song to my younger sister once [she asked what I was listening to and I decided to try to tell her] but I had to leave out all of the "ugly" words, if you will. Haha - not the easiest of tasks, not to mention I couldn't keep a straight face.

Shiny Toy Guns – Le Disko Lyrics 16 years ago
Mhm.
I agree with the 'lesbian' thing.
That's what I first thought, when I heard it and actually paid attention to the lyrics.

"If what they say is true
You're a boy
and I'm a girl
I will never fall in love with you"

She's saying that she's a lesbian, I suppose, and that she will never fall in love with him for the simple fact he's a boy.

And she's teasing him, knowing that men find lesbians attractive and sexy, and yet putting him down the whole time with the fact she's a lesbian.

Anyway...the other perspectives fit nicely too, but I would think that as the purposeful meaning of the song.

Celldweller – Afraid This Time Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah, this is definitely about mental walls.
He keeps referring to 'build them up' and such, obviously meaning the walls, to keep out the pain, the love, and frankly all emotions.
He's basically saying that he's secluded and iscolated himself, so he doesn't have to be exposed to anything, and you can't show him love, hate, pain, etc. - he won't be aware of it.

I love this song.
Klayton needs more exposure though!
He's a great artist.

If you've watched GCTV,
we all know this is about the rise and fall of L.A.,
and because I didn't take the time to read through but the first two comments,

I don't know if that's been mentioned yet,
but I'm sure it has,
haha.

Shadows and Gates make it awesome.
Especially Matt, hehe.

Evanescence – The Only One Lyrics 16 years ago
I personally like the beginning of the song. =)
The underlying, repeatitive thing goes on a bit too much, though, and I wouldn't mind if it stopped a little earlier than it did.

But, on this particular song, I don't have any wise light to shine on its meaning. =/
Not that I did for any other, really.

Evanescence – Lose Control Lyrics 16 years ago
At first, this was my favorite track of the album. However, after paying a bit more attention to the others, I can't decide, frankly.

I honestly, after reading everyone else's opinions, cannot come with a definite feel to the song for me.
But if I must decide, I'd say it had something to do with temptation, but I would think she never went through with it.

I don't find this song 'sexy', as mentioned earlier. But, I don't think cheating or even the temptation of cheating is much too glamorous, myself.

However...call_me_violent_xo does have a point about the opening to this and the opening to 'Taking Over Me'.
Hmm...
and if you read over the lyrics to 'Taking Over Me', you'll notice that she mentions 'You don't remember me'.
I don't know, I doubt there's any tie between the two songs or a crossover from albums to embellish a story, but it's ... faintly possible, I suppose, though I highly doubt it.

But I like how Narikia tied that in. I think it could be a reference regarding that situation as well.

Evanescence – Cloud Nine Lyrics 16 years ago
And again we go on the debate as to whether The Open Door is worthy of Evanescence.

I personally believe that the people who consider the album to be rubbish aren't true fans.

With every album from any band, artist, etc. will come a good degree of lost fans. I personally consider the loss to be the ones close-minded. If you're not willing to grow and evolve with the band, then you're no fan, and certainly not die hard.

But regarding the song -
I think we can all agree that it's about the failure of a relationship, which was stated towards the beginning of the posts. However, like any other piece of music, it can be taken into many different perspectives and used thus.

I personally don't like the opening, myself. The notes which are held out...eerie, yes, but they are the basis for the undertone, and the undertone of the music is the foundation of a song, and I personally think those chords to be weak. With a weak foundation, either the structure will crumble and collapse, or be top heavy. Fortunately, the undertone changed in this song, so it did neither. :-)

Until that same undertone restated itself in the second verse.

But overall, I like the song - minus that area.
And Amy's vocals are amazing as always.
I'm blessed to be compared to her so often, hehe.
:DDD
She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice and an amazing spirit about her.

Evanescence – Sweet Sacrifice Lyrics 16 years ago
I personally like the album - the entire album.

I will not deny that 'Fallen' is definitely the best of their work, but I think The Open Door is a breath of fresh air, honestly. The undertone of all the songs is great, and yes - the band won't be the same without Moody, but they're doing well.

I do agree that Moody restricted the band as well, though - in that I may come off as hypocritical, so be it. I personally think the rest of the band should step up a little - it's not as if the band is Amy's all on her own, but that's what is acknowledged in my opinion.

As towards this song - yes, it doesn't much of a hidden meaning like most of us fans look for in Evanescence, but I still enjoy it. Like I stated previously - a nice come around from their other works. And in a way I think this album is a way for Amy to get a lot off of her chest, so to speak. She's letting go of a lot and putting it into the songs, so maybe this album is a 'cleansing' of some sort.

Anyway...I disagree with the ones who don't like the album, but you're rightfully endowed to your opinion, and dually so.

Downtown Singapore – What She Said Lyrics 16 years ago
:) First comment.

Before I begin, mark my words -
these guys will be big soon.
They're great.

Anyway -
if you haven't seen the video, you should.
The quality is poor, and it was a low budget production, but it's still great, and will definitely help make the meaning a bit clearer.
You can view the video here.
[Hehe - I know the girl who played in the video as the 'sleaze', as I say, haha.]

It's simply about making mistakes and not jumping the gun. That's what the video makes of it, anyway.

The lyrics, however, tell a different story.
When I first heard the song, I immediately knew I had the meaning down pat, or so I thought.

MY take on this song is thus:
A young man [as the song speaks in third person of a girl] falls in 'love' with said girl. He is so blinded by his false love of her that he's shaded from her true personality.
["Believe in what you think is real"]

Then along comes her real intentions and true colors, and he's dumbfounded by it.
["Feast your eyes over there
The perfect gun to keep you undone
You know that she's the one
Believe it or not
You're staring at her hips
A cigarette in between her lips
The prize is in the bag, yeah"]
In this he looks upon his 'true love' and sees what she really is - a bit of a sleaze, haha.

Then comes the argument. He confronts her and she tries to deny his story, but he knows what he saw, and he won't back down.
["Worlds collide in between your heads
The smell of men wanted her instead
Her intent is just to play"]

And then the following backs-up my opinion of her 'sleazy' behavior; that she plays men, basically.
["She moves like the devil
And knows what is evil
She'll rip your heart out
And find another prey"]

I think the rest of it is simple enough to understand.

However, like I stated earlier - the lyrics and the video go together quite nicely, but the lyrics alone tell a different tale.

Sky Eats Airplane – The Opposite Viewed In Real Time Lyrics 16 years ago
Of course, I think we can all agree this is a reference to battle in war.

However...I took a little something extra from this piece, and I plan on dwelling over a deeper meaning in the song.

"I watched the bullets fly in wrong directions
enter the guns that first fired them"

That lyric, for some reason, gave off a different meaning - something along the lines of this:

A quarrel, to say the least, where the two are arguing with each other; However, their negative energy is focused incorrectly. The reason they are fighting has nothing to do with the one they're engaged in an argument with [I watched the bullets fly in wrong directions].

The next line brought a sense of them eating their words and taking them back, learning that they did wrong, and all of that hate they gave off is coming back to hit them. [enter the guns that first fired them]

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the purposeful meaning of the song, but it was just a little tidbit I picked up from it.
:)

I'm sure if I picked at the song long enough I could make it fit with what I captured from it, but that's the beauty of music - there can be a myriad of meanings thought of a song other than the original.

ANDRAK!
Aaaah no, no -
he does;
he sings this at his concerts.
At least, he did when I was given the privelege of attending one of his shows.
It was the closing piece,
and my parent's had never heard it [and aren't the biggest fans of Al, which shows what they know, haha], and they were simply stunned by his ability to play the entire song.
It's a real treat live.

I see how this song could have different meanings, such as someone who's missing their lover and can't be with them for they're far away, or possibly longing for someone you don't have at all. The Pope also has a good point.

Klayton is the shit.

I love when BFS becomes a little more serious.
They're great.
Which, most of their songs do revolve around a good point, but this one, of course, is more obvious than most.
I love Jarret Reddick. :)
