The song is about all who have fallen in conflict. It specifically mentions the United States, but it means to any that have fought and died in conflict. Also IQ the Purple Heart is given to members of any branch of the military. |

The song according to Wikipedia was about the Vietnam war. Many of the lines in the song echo that view, but I don't see how they get that from the line, "we remember the fields, where our tanks held the line" Tanks weren't used to often. It could be about Korea maybe. SO my final verdict is Korea or Vietnam |

On the statement that Iron maiden doesn't sing about American incidents becuase they're british isn't true. Run to the Hills was about Indian wars. And also the song Running Free takes place in L.A., which is in America. |

The song is entirely about the Battle of Britain. The Spitfires were Britains greatest plane of the war, and the Me-109s was the most produced airplane of all time and the mainstay of the German Luftwaffe. There were 35,000 produced between 1935 and 1945. |

This is one of my favorite songs, not just for the lyrics and great guitar, but also becuase of the neutral standpoint. many of IMs songs are like this, allowing you to make your own judgement about a particular event, similiar to Sabaton, only better. |
