Alanis Morissette – I Was Hoping Lyrics 16 years ago
"pigtails and cords" reminds me so much of being 18-23 years old. My girlfriends and I thought we "were owed something". I think Alanis is trying to reflect on how women grow out of the adolesence and becoming a mature woman. Realizing when to be mature. When you are young and in a situation of either fame or sucess you can distort your priorities. I think this was a song about Alanis' own realization of becoming her own and understanding life is not all about one's self. Trying to find one's self as well. :) Her lyrics are always so thought provoking and deep :)

Natalie Merchant – My Skin Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh and to the ones who believe this song is about cancer survivors... Natalies mother I believe passed from cancer. The song "Beloved Wife" was a song about her mothers death from her fathers prespective.

Natalie Merchant – My Skin Lyrics 16 years ago
I believe this song is about a love that has lost it's intimacy. It is so sad but with society today, no one has respect or admiration for loyalty or simplicity in relationships. It depresses me. I have so much more to say. I feel like I am trying to split off into too many branches of what this song means to me.

Tori Amos – Almost Rosey Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song represents the many roles a woman is expected to obtain in society. I loooove Tori and I appreciate her ability to verbalize these thoughts and feelings. She is a very wise woman and more young women should listen to her music. :)
