Pierce the Veil – Yeah Boy and Doll Face Lyrics | 15 years ago |
it seems like he loved her enough to propose to her and maybe she rejected the proposal. 'A diamond gold ring customized to cut your circulation But I couldn’t let you go' |
Brand New – Brother's Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i at first thought it was an anti-draft song, but now, i think it may be that his brother enlisted. but then again, the only reason i think this is because of the whole his brother feeling proud or whatever. (then again, he could feel proud because people think he is being so brave after being drafted, dunno.) after reading about the surfing/running idea, i do think jesse was trying to put both points across. like maybe he's helping his brother run, but they use the surfing as a cover. not too sure, but you never can be since i didn't write it, lol. and i'm surprised no one has pointed out what the 'but i'll be dead before you put a gun in my brothers hands'. he's kind of saying, i'll do what i have to do to keep my brother out of the army, because if i'm gone, they won't take an only son. although i'm not sure if that is still in effect. |

i could see it being about almost everything already said. 1.) the dirk thing. to me this sounds the most accurate. and the whole sharing spit thing...i don't think he meant making out. my friends and i share spit constantly, whether it be cigarettes (of a sort), drinks, lipgloss, etc. now if he said swapping spit, to me that has a different meaning. 2.) the clingy/manipulative girlfriend. this would make sense too. the only thing that throws this off is the 'yes, men too can be on the rag' part. but maybe he's referring to himself, as in, 'i happen to be really irritated right now, but not exactly sure why.' or my theory that guys are usually moody right around the same time their girlfriends/friends are PMSing. 3.) the drug addicted friend. i hadn't thought of this until reading through everyone's ideas, but it makes a lot of sense in parts of the song. interesting to think about, but there's too many other lyrics in the song that don't make sense with this theory. 4.) the goverment. can't agree with this one at all. i just really don't see it. |

i agree with the whole idea that it's those thoughts that run through your head when you have a crush on someone. but i also think it's that self-doubt like 'but could she possibly like me?' or even 'why would she like me?' . that could also stem from the societal constraints, like maybe people wouldn't expect them to be together or even interested in one another. |
Incubus – Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
maybe it's about both love and getting high. like getting high with someone you love. i.e. maybe we could meet up, get high and see what happens/have a little fun. hahah. |
Incubus – Deep Inside Lyrics | 16 years ago |
wow, if i didn't want to get stoned before, i really do now. it's been a while, but most of the time, it ended up something like this. whether it be walking into the middle of the road cause i didn't know where i was going, or after being in a car for 10 minutes freaking out because i forgot who was driving. it's definitely been a while. |
Incubus – Drive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think the song has a lot to do with making your own decisions about how you want to live your life. that you can either follow the crowd and possibly end up somewhere you don't want to be, or paving your own path and ending up happy. i also think it deals with the responsibility of making your own choices. because even if you do choose to not follow the crowd, you still may not end up where you wanted. the 'will i choose water over wine' line i think hints at responsibility. sort of 'will i choose wine because that's what everyone else is having or should i choose water and be responsible'. |
