okay so to me it's not suicide....but like some sort of sickness....that;s really bad.... so in the first verse....the parenthetical parts is like a girl and she is sick....but it seems like her beau is sicker.....? So then in the second verse it seems like the parenthetical parts is the beau from the previous verse. and a friend is talking to him....and asking him to look after her....because they seem seperated... So shes worried for him and he's worried for her. They are seperated, it seems because of work. because in the third verse we see like the friend maybe calling him...while on the road....and he's like sick working....(im guessing a band). Kelly seems to be a close figure to the guy....maybe like a sister or another friend on the road with him....or it could be the same girl from the beginning ("your belle"). the last line "you take care of you, theres something bigger going on this time") seems like this sickness he has is maybe like not a minor thing, like maybe he's going to die.? That's what i got from it. |

okay so its pretty easy to figure out the meaning...i just love this song. so here it goes: this is about a girl who has this friend and he is totally in love with her but she is not....then suddenly it hits her she is in love with him (its like that scene in clueless)..anyway. so throughout the song she is like seeing how he has"treated her like a princess" and how he's winnng her over because hes just so charming or whatever.... "your so much braver than i give you credit for" i think this means that like he finally told her that he loves her...and shes like shocked how brave he is to say this....since they are friends...maybe "thats not lip service" i think this is means kissing....like its too soon she still sees him as a friend, but a friend she likes....its kind of a confuseing transition.... or it could mean like don't be lectureing me....or something...but i think the first one fits better... "bearer of unconditinal things" basically saying he loves her no matter what...because he has been there the whole time....he held his "breath and the door for me." like he is putting her first and waiting paitently. So she is realizing yeah he is my best friend...and i love him....and why didn't i see this before.. ans she thinks that forming a relationship with someone you know for a long time and is a friend..is just rational, and healthy....and its toatlly not like her... so there you go my analysis. |

i really don't know what this song is talking about. At first just by listening to it i thought sex. But then as i read it it dosen't really make sense that way. Then people say its about drugs, which i kind of considered just by the sound of the song, and the way it moves slowly and stuff. I dont really get the metaphor about the ocean....like how do you swing from an ocean...i don't know. Then i thought, okay whats the story in this song....whats happening... the fist verse, he's in a car then something happened and he thinks of someone...(peresumably a girl). Then it goes into this euphoirc state. then the next verse he's talking about a girl..... but he doesn't really like her, its not positive. Then it goes back to this euphoric slowmoving state, with a lot of repition of Ocean, Potion Approcahing, and its not positive either, "sheild your eyes" And is it just me or doesn't it sound kind of like a train coming. like there's a woo-woo sound. I don't know? So this song has me so perplexed. |

ok, i never really analyzed this song before because people just dubbed it not ironic, but i love this songs, one of the first songs i listend to. Okay, is it ironic. i just went down the line, trying to fingure if each one is ironic, and i think the only one that is ironic is the whole Mr. Play it Safe verse, because if he always mr safe, and didn't go on planes, then decided that he needed to go on this flight like his life depended on it, and he died...then it is kind of ironic. i think most of these situations are like the begining of an ironic situation, but just need more detail, I think this song is just a list of Unexpected things that happen in life. Like we are so use to routine that when something out of the ordinary happens it messes us up. i don't know. there is one part i don't really get though. seems like contradictory. i just saw the video today. And it was the first time i heard the song. I didn't catch on to the play on words, i figured something was up when i saw the video. Anyway. The story is in a guys perspective. He's like looking for a girl, britney. yeah that basically it. It's about how no matter all the bad press she gets or got in the past, guys still want to sleep with her. Although, the video kind of confused me, cause there's like 2 britney's in the video. So that made me think that maybe Amy is like a persona that she would like to be like the perfect version of her, with the family and the nice house, and how maybe she wants to be protrayed a certain way in the media, but she isn't because people still see her as a sex symbol. today i listened to this album entirely for the first time...before i had just listened to Broken Bride, and Morning in May....you can imagine my confusion before listening to the entire albume. Anyway now that i listened to it and read the lyrics (cause i didn't really understand what he was saying at first) i can safely condlude that is by far the best album that i have ever listened to. If the music alone dosen't get you the story will. And not only that, they are able to do an epic story with also amazing poetry. I mean every line has so much meaning and i just love this album. Now about this particular song. Although people have already given a good synopsis of the story. I'll try to keep this short. Basically what it all comes down to is love, yeah. love so strong that you would do anything for that loved one. And in this song we are only given a small point of view of the actual bride. (isn't that funny....This whole story is about her but she is only in a small part of the story.) Basically she loves him too. But oblivious of whats going to happen to her. And i don't think he trys to stop her because it would just sound crazy...can you imagine him telling her that he went back in time and all that jazz..... Its just great...great great great. |

this is one of my favorite songs on the album but its the one that baffles me the most. And it seems you guys are baffled to since you say different things. Im gonna try to figure this one out So after hearing it a few times and reading it through and finding out what a Balaclava was this is what i came up with: So there is a guy and a girl in this story. In the first verse he is going over to the girls house, (or wherever she is) Hes gonna do something bad because he has his mask on, and it will end with "salty cheeks and runny make-up alone" Referring to the girl crying and ending up alone. Next: first correction> the line is Will blood run down THE face of a boy bewildered and scorn" So this verse is like the inner monologue of the boy. He is questioning what will happen if he does this horrible thing. He'll probably regret it, but he'll do it anyway. This makes me think hes with a gang since the line read "we'll do it anyway" even though he knows its wrong Next verse: I think this is when we know what the bad thing is. Hes gonna rape her. Now he's thinking about the girl. Is he saving her or ruining her life? ( he would think that he's saving her maybe because she is a virgin or maybe because sex is generally looked at as positive) So he hopes it end well. He's confident that he won't get caught because he has his mask on. ( the girl can't tell because she doesn't know who is raping her) He knows its wrong still. The line "she can hardly wait" suggests that he some how tricked her into thinking nothing bad is going to happen. She seems gullible and innocent. Next verse: He obviously won't let he out her sight in case she escapes. And this is some sort of gang bang because " the shaggers preform". But then "the daggers are drawn" which indicates (to me anyway) that the gang is no fighting among themselves. So he's asking who are the real crooks? Well the gang are still the crooks but i guess hes saying that HE's not the real crook. ( he only wanted to help her) Now that little line: "You'll be able to post any day of the most for the sights of all time." I have no idea what this line refers to. Im only guessing. well i looked up the word "post" and the definition that i like is: to publish a name in a list. and if i continue in my interpretation, the boy tells what happened with the whole gang rape fight thing. Who was involved. Next and last: the most important part Well the first 2 lines are in the girls perspective. She knew what she was getting herself into. She wasn't as gullible and innocent as i thought. So now she asks him to see his face; who this guy, that kind of saved her, really is. The boy "resisted and fought" He really wants to keep his identity a secret, because he did something too and if he takes off his mask theres a chance that she'll tell. And he'd rather be safe then sorry. Yeah, well thats what i get from it. and if you didn't really want to read all that i wrote and just want to know what its about.... It's about rape. |
