Disturbed – Shout 2000 (Tears for Fears cover) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
This song definately isn't a bad cover. But it lacks feeling. Sure he is yelling, but it doesn't mean it has emotion, especially compared to that of the original. The bonuses to the song are that Disturbed mixes their sound with that of Tears for Fears, so it doesn't sway too far to either side. |

Dead Kennedys – Kill The Poor Lyrics

The song is essentially the Dead Kennedy's version of "A Modest Proposel" (can't recall the writer, it is how to solve poverty and hunger). |

Weezer – Mykel And Carli Lyrics

BoundenInABond, that is wrong, and funny, and I think we both need to stop watching those Bible Secrets things on the History Channel
This is just another fun Weezer song that is a tribute to Mykel and Carli for their support. It is just an unfortunate that the song can be related to something other than school starting now. |

The White Stripes – You've Got Her In Your Pocket Lyrics

It sounds like a relationship where the guy feels he is not good enough for the girl, and therefore, he has to keep her under control, otherwise she will realize she can do better and leave (or at least in his perspective it is such). |

Matthew Good Band – Load Me Up Lyrics
|
It seems like a bunch of thoughts jumbled together, and most of them are dealing with feeling alienated from the rest of society (as blender said), and screwing up relationships with people (or rather never being able to develop any).
The lines:
---------------------
and hey are you you know?
and hey are you special?
and hey are you deformed?
hey ya you are
---------------------
Just seem to me to be looking at yourself, and wondering why you don't fit in anywhere. I take the first line as asking if one's self is gay (or something along those lines), second is asking if one is too stupid/too smart of everyone, third is asking if there is something horrible wrong with yourself, and then coming to the conclusion that all are true.
And the rest of the lines seem like some sort of drug use to forget all of those problems, and bring your mind to peace.
This is probably my favorite MGB song, along with music video (the part on the soccer field is kinda illustrates the alienation). |

Switchfoot – Innocence Again Lyrics
|
My interpertation of the lyrics are someone who is having trouble keeping with God. His mind is his own worst enemy, because what others have told him about what is truth is in his head, and he can't make up his mind. And the lyrics seem like the singer is telling the person to remember what Christ has given them, and to forget about what others say. |

12 Stones – The Way I Feel Lyrics
|
"In the midst of darkness Lord
My spirit calls for you"
Those lines right there make it clear that he has been talking to God throughout the song. But those who do not have a relationship with God or just have a different way of thinking can choose whatever meaning fits them (unless it is completely unreasonable).
One of the great things about bands like 12 Stones, Switchfoot (AWESOME BAND, check them out if you haven't heard of them), they aren't saying "Lord" every line, so my sister (who is not Christian) can listen to the songs, and still both enjoy them. |

The Kinks – Tired Of Waiting For You Lyrics

I am surprised no one has commented on this song. Great song. Green Day does a cover of this song, and does a great job on the song, and doesn't ruin it like some bands have. I recommend you check out the cover if you like the original. |

Cheap Trick – I Want You To Want Me Lyrics

I am pretty sure Cheap Trick was the original maker of the song, in one of the covers I have, they lead into the song by commenting "This is for all the old folks, were gonna take you back to 1979" or something like that. |

Definately my favorite song of DP. Knowing the Magic Dave story and hearing the lyrics to these songs, it really all hits you pretty hard. |

Pearl Jam – Last Kiss (Wayne Cochran cover) Lyrics

What really makes this song that dark is the fact that the guy feels responsible for the accident, as well as missing her completely. Just the thought of killing the one you love is a horrible thought, which makes this song so great. |

Eminem – Stan Lyrics

GreatRedGoat,
If you are actually interested in allowing other people to listen to what you claim is better music, why don't you actually list some bands that you think are good music. Not only did you not do this, you didn't give any reason why this song or the artist is not talented, you just named called. No proof, no nothing. I am not a fan of rap, but this song is a great illustration of someone who has their priorities messed up. Next time you try to enlighten people, act with maturity, and maybe actually suggest bands. |

Switchfoot – Learning To Breathe Lyrics

Switchfoot definately does have some great songs, they are in my opinion, one of the top Christian bands out there, in that they show their love for God, but anyone can still listen to the songs and enjoy them. |

Matthew Good Band – Anti-Pop Lyrics

I especially like the "Got a life from life on TV". So many people don't try to be themselves, they act out what they see on all the MTV shows, and they just become completely brainless. |

A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics
|
Long time Christians do not get the concept of being brainwashed. Teaching kids about God is the same as Santa Claus, they will believe it, but there is no way to show them they God doesn't exist, so it is ingraved in their mind that he DOES exist, and they do not question it. For example, my ex-GF's mom always asks "How can people make it through life without God?". Well, it is no different either way. If I sit and hope that tomorrow I get to go somewhere, with no belief in God, I would have the same chance as if I did and prayed for it. This song is partly talking about blindly believing others, and not making up their own mind. The rest of the song can be put into the context described throughout here. I consider my a Christian, but I don't believe the Bible is history, it is just lessons, and only meant to lessons to help people make it through life, kinda like a set of laws. |

Green Day – Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Catcher In The Rye is a FANTASTIC book, high schools pretty much make you read it now-a-days. Holden is having problems with growing up, he doesn't know what he wants to do, he is not really ready to grow up, he wants to be inncent still, he doesn't want to have to deal with sex, and he has problems dealing with how society runs. He ends up getting lost in his mind, losing his mind, and you feel your mind slipping. Just a great book. Other book, similar, is the "The Great Gatsby", which, incidently, is mentioned in "The Catcher In The Rye" by Holden as a book he DOESN'T hate. |

Song can be taken either way. Great songs are like that, they reach people on both levels. This one can be about an affair, it could be about drugs, and it is catchy, so anyone who doesn't care about song meanings get what they want. |

Not sure the meaning of the song, if it is as as obvious has it may look (losing someone you didn't pain attention to, and regretting it). Sad song, but also fun song to listen to. Came apon it by the movie Vanilla Sky, in which is incorporated well. |

Gabriel obviously didn't just put words together for this one, he phrases things in a way that many different meanings can come from them, all right. |
