Fair to Midland – Tall Tales Taste like Sour Grapes Lyrics 16 years ago
I have two interpretations for this song. One of them Raspo already covered, so heres my other.
I kind of think it could be about people who spend their lives worrying about celebrity gossip rather than pay attention to their own lives.
"dragging names through the mud,
and still bitting his tongue "
That could be talking about paparazzi that just spread celebrity gossip and "drag names through the mud".
"the devil's in the air and i'm spitting out prayers while the ravenous all eat their fill"
that could be darroh hoping that people will stop giving a crap about celebrity lives and focusing on their own, or more on whats going on around the world.

"
tell me, tell me a story,
tell me not to worry, or pick up the phone,
so turning, turning a deaf ear, so that i don't hear, them throwing stone."
That could be from the perspective of one of the people who pay attention to the gossip, and all they want to do is hear more gossip, rather than worry about their own lives. the "turning a deaf ear so that i dont hear them throwing the stone" part could be either the people ignoring their own lives for the gossip..OR it could be the celebrities trying to ignore what people have been saying about them.

"too much hog wart, not enough hearsay,
always made the front page, you could use a fine tooth comb,"
This I think is darroh talking about how celebrity gossip makes more news than actual...news.

"to get a word from the wise, would be a welcome surprise," he's saying it'd be great to get some real news...one of my favorite lines in this song along with "The devil's in the air and i'm spitting out prayers"

"
keep an ear to the ground, so to drown out the sound of the failures that make me whole"
I think they're saying here that people are immersed in celebrities failures to make them feel better about themselves.

"
these walls don't talk, even when somebody knocks,
these walls don't stand, for anyone else but themselves,
these walls don't fall, even when gravity's failing us all"
I guess these could be the walls people put up when they focus too much on the gossip and not their friends or family?

So yep, thats my other interpretation. Raspo nailed my first thought haha. Great band, hope I can see them sometime soon. They're my second fav.

No ones commented on this yet? This song is awesome. Basically its just about this guys life....but it reminds me of my brother who just joined the marines and really doesnt know what he's gonna do when he gets out. But yeah, great song, heard it on Axis of Justice radio.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought this song was about covering up domestic abuse, like your husband (or wife i guess) beating you.

the "Wake Up! Grab a brush put on a little make-up! Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup! Why'd you leave the keys up on the table? Here you go creating another fable" sounds like something the abuser would yell at the victem, and the "You wanted to" is saying its the victems fault that they were abused. The "I don't think you trust, In, my, self righteous suicide," is the victem talking to someone about suicide, saying its for their own good.
"I cry when angels deserve to die" could be the victem referring to themselves, someone the victem knows reffering to the victem, or SOAD talking about the victem.
"Father/Father/Father/Father
Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit,
Father, into your hands,

Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me,
In your heart forsaken, me oh" this part could be the victem after death, or before death talking about they are about to kill themselves, and they are possibly blaming God or Jesus or and God at that for their problems.

And thats the whole song so yes :-)
