I think this song is Lupe going, "Oh my! I've made it big." And not entirely believing that his previous album got acclaimed and loved and did so well (because it was sheer AWESOMENESS... and you know it.) So he's floored by the feedback (and, oh so humble too) and everybody thinks he's a superstar... but a superstar??? He doesn't know how to live up to it or can't fathom what being a superstar is. Anyway that's my take on it. I love the chorus. Whoever sings it has a beautiful voice... I'm going to hunt down the singer right now. :D I'm super excited for Dec. 18th..... why can't it be nooooooooooooow? |

It seems to portray the absence of a father through the eyes of the mother and the child. It's beautiful. The chorus is one of my favourite parts. I think it's like the child saying, I don't want you to leave even if the father already did and the you want more from me? part. I think it's the child thinking, what else do I have to do to get him back? What can get him back here with me? This is, without a doubt, a beautiful song. |

I love when they sing the chorus for the last time at the end. It sent chills down my spine. This song is definetly a pleasant surprise. I think the song is about how this guy is living a lie, strutting his stuff in a place he knows he doesn't belong. Nevertheless, he tries to. And he doesn't make it look like he's trying on the outside. He wants everyone to see that he is 'it'. For me, the chorus is about how he turned out? Showing his life through another point of vue, his ennemis, past lovers... And mother's don't want their kids to be like him. Maybe God's crying because he's disappointed in the guy? I'm confused about the socket/sewage part and I think the way I see it doesn't make much sense so I'll save myself the humiliation and not type it down. I love the lead singer's voice. This song, for me, is the highlight of the whole CD. It's unexpected the way it slows everything down... from their usual themes through the album and the harmony between the back-up singers and lead singer is just... wow. That's all I've got to say. |
