Empires – Keep the Mood Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's "most of what is good dies fast." I can't find my booklet, though.

"I'm gonna have a party with my body, do you want to come" is SUCH a cool line. It comes out with the perfect shade of meaning.

The Comas – Tonight on the WB Lyrics 17 years ago
Ha, it pretty much completely describes the OC and Dawson's Creek etc.

Poor little rich girls. Your angst is entertainment.

The Comas – The Last Transmission Lyrics 17 years ago
I like to think this is about an alien invasion about to happen. We are the animals, and we rarely notice much because we are all so afraid, easy prey.

Sting – Wrapped Around Your Finger Lyrics 17 years ago
It's totally about Mrs. Robinson. He's seduced by an older married woman, taught by her, and then he breaks away to be his own person with the iea of coming back to show her he's the strong one.

Sarah McLachlan – I Will Not Forget You Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this one is about a woman who married a sailor or an explorer. He went back to sea--the one who possesses his soul, who he loves more than her. So when she finds he's gone, she runs down to the ocean and finds his ship has sailed.

Sarah McLachlan – Back Door Man Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm always torn on this song, with deciding if she's singing about social or political upheaval, or about personal upheaval. Maybe it's even both.

Paula Cole – Saturn Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
This is the best song about alienation I've ever heard. It manages to get across the idea without trivializing it or making it seem like regular teenage angst.

Paula Cole – Garden Of Eden Lyrics 17 years ago
I like how this song uses biblical imagery to make the protagonist both strong and weak at the same time. She's a serpent queen and a siren, but she can't reach the person she loves.

Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics 17 years ago
I've heard that this song is about Julian Casablanca, the lead singer of the strokes. They dated. Whether or not it's true, I like the image of Julian stumbling back to bed with shorter hair and telling her that she'd 'done alright".

Justin King – Beauty Bar Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song because it really forcibly puts the idea of walking through the city, smoking and on your way to meet a person, in your head. Every thought is something that people listening can relate to and they've been transformed into hundred-dollar-lines, that convey the feeling of it instead of just the meaning.

I get the feeling of going out into the night of the city, buoyed up and excited to meet someone who gives me contact high just by being so awesome, by being special in combination with me--those people you just click with so hard that everybody else pales in comparison.
