| Elliott said in interviews that he used drug and alcohol abuse as a style of writing in a sense. Just because there may be some refrences to drugs doesn't mean he was shooting dope when he wrote the song. And not all songs that are written in first person are necessarily about the musician either. Just another style of writing. So it could very well be about drugs, or about his stepfather. Or something totally different. Whichever way you want to interpret it. | |

I get the impression that a person telling someone she got raped so they will feel sympathy for her. "Of course she lied away" "Who doesn't lie? You know what I mean." "But the only thing that you really hate is all it's emptiness" Sounds like the person lying so people will pity her. "I am so, angry I am so, at ease I feel just like Some great big disease" Those could be the lies she is telling, as well as the part about taking one million showers. |
