Marilyn Manson – I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies Lyrics 15 years ago
This song seems more fitting towards the women that he's been linked to whom are actresses(mainly all of them during his reign of fame)... including Evan.

The metaphorical comparison of movies helps bring about the idea of a starlet. This is both erotic and sinister in nature. I think it combines the emotions of his lust as well as his frustrations with those whom he was(and is) inside of a relationship with. Something simple like his line of "come inside" can be looked at as "come inside of my mind" as well as a more explicit "cum inside." Then with the line of "I hate taking off my gloves" is usually something stating about how people get their hands dirty. Or even going bare knuckle with attacks.

The whole acting portion of it seems like it is him saying that he was just playing around with his extremities when dealing with her, and, in the following lines, seems to say that he feels she was just acting(and overacting) about feeling for him. Which would bring more sense to the whole "don't confuse this with love" parts.

The main portion of it saying that "everytime I kill you I'm just killing myself" seems to show how he ends up damaging himself trying to tarnish their image inside of his own mind. To kill off how he felt kills of what he feels. Followed up by the whole "there's another one just like you waiting in line" brings out the fact that there is someone else who'll be the exact same thing to him that she was, and might even do the same good and bad towards him that she did.

More than anything, I really feel that this was aimed towards Evan since they did break up for majority of the recording of this album . . . only to get back together with her in the following months. This much more personal and less cryptic Manson has a much stronger sense of sensuality inside of his work. Of course being more personal allows one to display more raw emotion. I, for one, really enjoy it. It's not as exposing as EMDM, nor is it as muddled with trying to say too much at one time. This is definitely an album that deserves a listen for anyone whom formerly enjoyed his work to a [even] semi-extended degree.

Marilyn Manson – 15 Lyrics 15 years ago
Not to discredit anyone, but I think a lot of folks are "Overstanding" Manson's newest album rather than taking it for what it actually is. Of course, any and all music should be interpreted in any way that the listener sees fit. Still, I do believe that people are missing the obvious and going directly for stranger connections when it's really an "is what it is" work.

Manson himself commented on how a lot of the songs on this album were testaments towards how he felt to his relationships with women. How songs on this album felt like things that he should have said inside of those moments with those people.

Yet and still, everyone is always encouraged to take what they want from what is in front of them. It's just that sometimes you overlook what is really there by looking over it for something farther down the line.

UltraBen is right. This is another song about DVT. And, yes, EMDM was about DVT, save for 2 & 1/2 songs about Evan(If I Was Your Vampire, Heart-Shaped Glasses & half of the title track).

But, yes, this is definitely more about Dita than it is about God. Especially if you listen to the track "If I Was Your Vampire." This song plays more of an rebounded feeling from Manson after recovering from such a depressive low.

The line "If You Don't Know What Forever Feels Like" is a testament towards their vows said at their wedding. As is "This Time I Won't Hesitate To Kill To Protect What I Believe In", since, though Manson isn't a fan of religion, is was very serious about his marriage. Not to mention that he had a crush on Dita far before they even got together. Plus, add in the fact that he basically remodeled Evan to look more retro Burlesque, and you have the complete cocktail of feelings backing this song.

Also, at the end of the song, when he says the lines "Not Letting You Win Won't Satisfy Me" he follows it up with "I'll Teach You About Loss." Easily one of my 3 fav tracks from this LP. Twiggy really showed that he still had it with this release. And Manson has taken to a more personal and open expression of his feelings, which I guess EMDM was the cause of the shift to blatancy over multiple subliminal meanings.

It is, also, worth mentioning that the bulk of this album was written whilst Manson & Evan were separated. They are back together, though.

Marilyn Manson – Devour Lyrics 15 years ago
I thought it said Stop instead of Starve, but I don't have the booklet, so I can't contest. Plus, starve does seem to go with the motif of eating(Devour). And, I thought he said something about "Open Them" instead of Open Film, in regards to his eyes being closed. I couldn't make out the starting part of that line, though I admit that I was more smitten with the backing track than anything else.

And, mosama is correct. This is definitely a track about being in love, in a very Manson-esque sort of way. It relates eating and/or devouring the one you love with finally having all of them to yourself. Though everyone tends to rag on the man about his lyrics, there's no dying how powerful of a feeling it is that he put in a very easily relateable state. Anyone whom is or has ever been completely in love can draw connections with that. Especially if the relationship involves a lot of pain and frustration. And, even moreso if the person continues to move forward with trying to make things work and completely win over the heart of the other.

I would say that this song is more about Evan than it would be about Dita. I can feel a connection with this track and a situation that I'm currently involved in, myself. Even when you know that you shouldn't try, you keep going. You keep allowing yourself to be hurt through all the pain, suffering, frustration, annoyance and bothering that is in store for you . . . all to know that YOU have won. That you have devoured the one you love and now they will always be yours.

With the old saying of sleep being the cousin of death, it's not hard to figure out what he means by "I Can't Sleep Until I Devour You." Simply stating that he can't rest, he can't stop and he can't die until he has all of her.

Definitely one of my favorite songs on this new LP. And, a phenomenal way to open an album. It was a pleasant shock.

Silversun Pickups – Draining Lyrics 15 years ago
This has to be my favorite track from the new LP. It's just so mellow and serious. There's something about it that gives off the sense that isolation is about to dawn. Or, maybe that's just what I get from it.

But, I feel that the lyrics are based around a relationship(friendship, intimacy or even work relationship) that is becoming way too taxing. It's "draining" the life and reason out of the whole thing. Yet, for some reason, they aren't able to cut ties and move on from the situation. Sort of like a dying cycle that they can't escape from.

I seriously love this track. There's something timeless and very mature about this cut.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Soft Shock Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with Lovetoyou only on the aspect of the relationship coming to an end(it seems to be a sort of theme for a few songs on this album . . . which is awesome work, by the by). But, I feel that the narrator is the one that doesn't want the relationship to end. The lines "gonna leave me" and "better back together" seem to swing me in that direction.

The end of the relationship seems to have caught the narrator off guard("It's a sharp shock, to your soft side"). "Lips speak louder" seems to represent arguments and the likes. I haven't figured out what Summer Moon represents. Nor do I have a firm grasp on the "room" situation.

Either way, it's a really dynamic song, and extra great at how the lyrical concept seem to contradict the breezy summertime fun that the music seems to represent. Awesome work, here. Easily my 2nd fav track on the album.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Hysteric Lyrics 15 years ago
For me, I feel that this song is about a couple that was falling apart, but, somehow, they get things together and fall back in love with each other.

The Cinders: the burning of what they had and built. The destruction of what once was . . . yet, somehow they have come to clear the way(Light the path) for them to get their things in order and get back on track with being back together(take us back).

A very beautiful song, and, like the others above me, it's my favorite track from It's Blitz!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero Lyrics 15 years ago
I think she's saying "You're a Zero" not "Your Zero"

This song seems like one of the songs for the outcasts. Something for the people whom aren't socially "in". That's what I believe the reference to the ladder & climbing comes in at. Like climbing up the social ladder towards popularity. It could actually be that the song is more about how they(or at least Karen O) feel in regards to the whole hoopla surrounding them.

YYYs were never one to make political statements with their music, so I doubt that they have made this song with the intention to speak about the war & such.

Kerli – Bulletproof Lyrics 15 years ago
MayaMoo, I don't get abusive in that song. Unless you mean like emotional abuse. But, I don't see it as her being scared to leave. I see it more so that she just cares too much to just walk out on it without fully trying.

And I can see what is stated from the interview statement provided by "alphabet."

But, in a more universal approach, I feel that the song conveys the message of someone who dearly loves the other person. It's just that they've done a lot of things that caused a bunch of doubt. The narrator doesn't want to just give in and walk out because it might be some hump that they can get over. Still, it nags on inside of their mind, and they don't want them adding more wood to the fire of worry that is blazing inside of their mind. Hence the "be careful what you do."

I wasn't necessarily a big fan of hers before. But, after hearing this track on the Punisher: War Zone OST, I've become curious as to her sound. If anything, I'd pass it to my little 7 yr old female version of myself(I'm a male, in case you get that confused). She loves stuff like this.

Idiot Pilot – The Reigns Lyrics 15 years ago
I love IP. I do. I love SWSMH more than Wolves. But, this song just takes it to an entirely different level for me. I guess I reach an end "stage" in my life when I get some type of monumental song that just moves me tremendously. Last "stage" was Inscape by Stateless. This time it's a tie between this song & Anthony Green + Colin Frangicetto's remix of Long Time Coming. Now, with personal matters aside . . .

This song totally moves with the theme of their album Wolves, in my opinion. I feel that this song speaks of someone who feels like giving up, yet didn't throw in the towel. And, during the course of that, is fighting to find some worth in their life to propel them to keep moving forward. Something to show them that life is still worth living, in a sense.

It seems like these types of songs from Wolves tend to deal with a sense of defeat and recovery that can only be mirrored by thoughts of death. Could it be suicide, or a possible terminal illness, or, even, just walking on the path of the last days. There's something that screams out "FINAL" in terms of the deepest of lows from this collection of songs. I love it, and it speaks much more creatively than a lot of people are even giving them credit for. This band will be one of those lost gems that folks have to come back for if they don't end up having a stronger fanbase, soon.

Also, I think that some of the lyrics are wrong. I believe it's "the voice speaks now" and not "their voice speaks." That makes more sense, and if you listen, it sounds more similar to that.

The other mishap is "in a cavern of a useless skull" and not "our useless skull." Again, it makes more sense lyrically, and connects better to how it sounds when he's singing it. Outside of that, I believe that the lyrics are very spot on.

Pinback – Non Photo-Blue Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song. Always have, and I hope I always will. Also, it's "accepts" not "excepts." Though I doubt the person whom posted the lyrics will check on this and come back for corrections.

Anywho, I have to pretty much agree with Hella Diesel. The song is about a failed relationship. The girl is trying to do things to keep herself busy so that she doesn't feel the pain of the failed relationship. But, that is also metaphorical for the fact that the 'posting all the time, but the boards came down" symbolizes their failed relationship. Posting, probably, meaning loving the man and stating such, and boards came down meaning that the relationship ended. Which brings more resolution into the line "it's a burned down building" by remarking that the relationship, like a burnt building, is destroyed and can't be "lived in" again.

The man, on the other hand, is living inside of that lost and motionless void that some people tend to go into when their relationship of seemingly great importance ends. Him "accepting the pain with a hate mantra" is him not only cursing her and their relationship, but also cursing on the feeling of loving someone. That is why it's a "spiritual killing."

The title suits this well if you really sit down and ponder on it, as non-photo blue ink tends to not show up in the final product. That allows folks to jot down notes regarding the photo and not having to worry about erasing anything. In a life standpoint, the relationship is the non-photo blue. Meaning that it happened, it's there, it left its points for you to note on, but in the end, it will be pretty much meaningless and unseen/uncared for. That helps out to understand the chorus of this song. As it's not solely sung to the male, but the female too. It's telling of don't beat yourself up and/or tear yourself down on something that will end up being disregarded later on like the shoes you had when you were 4 years old. "We get the same effect" is that they both are bummed out over it being over. They both have the same "result" in the end. And, instead of dwelling on it, just take it in stride and continue to move forward.

Hope I helped someone nod in agreement to this.

Innerpartysystem – Last Night In Brooklyn Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with MayaMoo, but in a different sense. I feel that she's the one that likes to get high, and he isn't really into it. But, he's hot for her, and he follows her around to let her get in her "element." The "float over you" seems to be either a sexual subliminal, him being done with her or the fact that when people get high on "white lines" they tend to "crash" afterwards. That allows him to be able to "float over her" since she falls down to the "bottom" when her high is over. The final one, him being done with her, could be viewed from the lines "I've given up, I've given all that I can so" and "I've given up, I've given all that I can to you." Which, if you look at it, seems like lines said by someone who has had enough of the BS and is just "done." So, in that sense, "Float Over You" could be like flying away and/or far out of reach.

I don't feel I should have to explain the sexual subliminal.

Rachael Yamagata – Worn Me Down Lyrics 15 years ago
I have to beg to differ from everyone's opinion on this.

I feel that it IS about her loving someone who doesn't really love her back as much as she loves him. BUT, I don't think he's necessarily in love with an ACTUAL girl. Rather, I feel that he's just in love with the idea/fantasy of another woman. That he has the idea of the perfect woman, and the singer is not her. Also, there's nothing the singer can do to actually become that girl for him. She's tried everything she could to fit into the mold for his "perfect woman," but there's always something wrong. Maybe he doesn't make her feel as pretty as she actually is, or even give her proper credit for trying so hard to please him.

I know that a lot of people will disagree with me, but those of you whom have been in a relationship where you bent over backwards for someone, and they don't even really give you the love that you're fighting for so adamantly will know what I mean. Sometimes, it's not that they are lusting for someone else in particular . . . just someone that their mind has created as the perfect person and them giving you the vibe that you're just NOT it. That's what I feel she was pointing out in this song.

And, I know folks will contest by saying "she said this and that at this concert." But, you have to remember, a lot of artists dedicate songs to situations in their lives AFTER they wrote it. Which is saying that the situation wasn't there BEFORE they wrote the song. Why? Because it fits them.

Relative Ash – Breathe (tiny Hands) Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song.

It has an old school deftones feel to it. Too bad the band broke up after this album. I would have really liked to see where they would have progressed towards.

And, as for the song, I believe that it's talking about how messed up the guy(narrator) feels due to his girl(ex or present) aborted his child. And, he loves her so much, and wanted to have the baby with her. That, or the woman is threatening to abort his child.

In truth, I feel it's a twisted combination of the above. Because he talks about how he's upset with her and, at the same time, talks like she hasn't done something tragic, yet. But, either way, he definitely wants his unborn child.

Just my opinion on the song, though.

Idiot Pilot – Recurring Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
I, also, feel that he sung it brilliantly. Making the lyrics seem as if they are saying something else if you don't have the actual words directly in front of you. Chino Moreno and Maynard James Keenan, come to mind as some of the main artists that have a tendency to do that. To make you get your own interpretation of what the song is saying to you, rather than have the script of it laid out before you in plain sight.

Idiot Pilot – Recurring Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
I feel that the song's mood tells of what it means. It's sad and lonely, the feeling of the melody. The lyrics tell of a dampened spirit. I think it's a sense of loss. Be it the death of someone, or the loss of even the person that the narrator used to call themselves(The loss of who they once were). Because, as most people know, sleep is the cousin of death. And Recurring Dream could mean the constant mourning of something that is no longer there. More than anything, I think it's the loss of the narrator, be it their dying day, or them walking away from who they used to be.

And this fever
And sleepiness that overrides my ability
A tired form of carrying the day

That part of the song tells of the tiredness of continuing on, and the approach of the "slumber."

It seems a day is all it takes
To forget that our watches run backwards

That part tells of heavy thought, further enriching the idea of "dying". Anyone who has ever been around someone who passed away knows that near their last days, they begin to view the world for what it is. With simplistic and observant eyes. Something as simple as a watches movement takes on new light, as does everything around them.

And our cells begin to dissipate
Losing what color they once retained

Cells dissipating. Losing their color. Dying away. And, it is symbolic for everything losing it's brilliance. Color losing its vibrance. Everything going from bright and beautiful to a dull gray, then a pitch black.

Possession framing intention and the
Ultimate deciphering

Ultimate deciphering. Understanding it all. They say, in the end, it all makes sense. Or, rather, the sense that you make of it is what causes it to end. Be it a physical death, or one that brings out change. The kind that brings about change, even moreso, holds the ultimate deciphering as its key. Without it, there wouldn't be a change to what's to come.

As I said, it's only my opinion. The same as everyone else who leaves a comment on here. But, that is how I take the song. Being that it's the album closer, as well, only helps me feel that way.

Saul Williams – Banged and Blown Through Lyrics 16 years ago
For me, the song sounds like it falls somewhere between Home & And All That Could Have Been.

But, as for the meaning behind the song, I feel it's more of a call to say that he has been tainted by life and the roads that he's traveled down. Still, he feels that there is still something inside of him with potential. Something hidden inside that can serve him, help him grow, make him shine as he is supposed to. That's where the "Conductor Conductor" part comes in. He's crying out to his God/Inspiration/Spirit to help him prove to that he's more than just the broken shell that everyone currently sees.

Plus, I'm sure he's saying it not only to himself, but, also, to others who feel just as he does.

P.S. I don't think the "Not what you’d expect from these city streets. " and "Who serves to protect the orchestra in me?" should be separated. I believe they are together as one statement. (Not what you'd expect from these city streets who serves to protect the orchestra in me) The reason why I say this is because it applies to what I believe is the meaning behind the song. The statement is saying that the hardships that he face "protect," as in cages or prevents him from showcasing, what is really inside of him. And, he's saying that you wouldn't expect for him to be more than what is currently is seen after going through what he went through.

This is definitely another tongue-in-cheek approach to religion that Maynard is famous for. It's not only comical, but it's a perfect satire of how Televangelists and even preachers go about ranting and raving incoherently about nothing and folks fall for it with their blind faith.

The chanting of "Jehovah, Yahweh(Jhvh, Jhwh in traditional form)" adds a stronger effect to the whole song.

I love the album, especially this song.

This song is brilliant. It seems to be the song with less Blink-182/Box Car Racer influences out of the Promo collection. Definitely self-explanatory. Mute Math – Stall Out Lyrics 16 years ago
The brilliance of Paul Meaney is that he writes Mute Math lyrics in a way that it can apply to whatever you're going through. Granted, he was from the Christian band Earthsuit, but he was adamant about not having Mute Math labeled a Christian band because he doesn't just want his music to apply to Christians, but anyone who is blessed enough to come across their phenomenal music.

With that being said, this song can go for a bad relationship with a significant other, a family member, or your religious deity. It's great, and it possesses a great sense of sadness equaled by a sense of hope to come. With the emotional level of the song, it allows the listener to understand the issues that they are going through, and helps them to remember that things aren't over and will move on from there.

I got into the band through this song by watching So You Think You Can Dance with a chick. The performance was cool, but the song snagged me in more than anything. I investigated and ended up falling in love with their music. The Presets are phenomenal. They are definitely not a one-dimensional band. All of it you can dance to, in one way or another. Some of their stuff is best to have someone strip to (especially Kitty In The Middle). I wish more people got into this great band and give them the deserves that they should have.

I've only heard the unmastered demos of their new tracks, but I think he says:

"If you're really as tough as your defenses
Let them fall"

and not

"But he has taught as your defenses and let them fall."

Also "There's no one stops" there is no "There" at the beginning of that.

Still, this has to be my favorite track from their demos for the new album. It's just the right combination of love, sadness, and pop melody. A perfect JEW song.

For me, it's their traditional relationship song. He's with a girl that most can't see the depth of. Even though he sees more in her than just her outer appearance, she still puts him through foolish games and situations. She does it as some sort of defense mechanism to prevent herself from getting too close to him. She cares for him, but she's proceeding like a little girl about it all. She's not trying to push him away, and he knows that, that's why he tells her to "stop", because if she continues it will ruin them.

That's just how I view it. It oddly reflects something I'm going through. Well, just went through. Still, I love this track out of the bunch. The album is very nice, but this is the standout track, for me.

You forgot the lines

"Fetish face

In between the chorus & the start of the 2nd verse.

But, this song is so kick ass. I don't see this as murder, I see this as some type of revenge for someone who hurt them. Like, retribution shall come. And, they'll never see it come, as if they don't have any eyes.

With the ending, I'd say it was a former lover that seriously hurt/scarred them. It's sort of a cynical/sarcastic way of them saying that they love the person.

Awesome song, though.

Damien Rice – Prague Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's after Cheer's Darling(and positively tied to the song). Mainly because it could be the Cheer's was him at an engagement party for the two, and not a wedding. Which would be WHY he's preparing himself for a war. Not just for the affection of the female, but also for the war inside of himself to come to terms with what's going on and also gain up the courage to actually tell her.

And, Definitely this is about a guy, the girl he loves, and the guy she's with. Any combination of that particular situation suits this song. For me, I like to zone out and imagine a mini movie based off of the song. One where the girl loves the singer as much as the singer loves her, but she's with the other guy. And, she does care for the other guy. She does love him, but she's not in love with him, and she promised to be with him. And, it could have been due to the singer being so passive when it came to expressing to her how he really feels(which I've conjured up based on the whole "You still don't know" line). And, now, he's preparing himself to put it all on the line for her. Either fall or fly, and is getting ready to battle(even physically, if it came to that) the other man that she's with. So, he's sitting at the edge of his bed and contemplating everything whilst getting himself mentally and emotionally ready for what's about to come.

Just what I thought. My mini movies help me to dive deeper into songs. Oh, and just for reference sake, it cuts off when he closes the door and leaves the room. Gotta love those "To Be Continued" sagas.

I see this as this:

Someone was obviously suffering from some emotional scarring. And, instead of taking time out and allowing it to heal, they went out and allowed themselves to be scarred more.

An example is like if a couple broke up on really horrible terms. The girl starts sleeping around, and becoming more and more numb. Inside, she's wishing that someone would rescue her from the hell that she's entered in. She's "waiting for somebody else."

That's just how I see it. That's the feeling I get from the atmosphere of that song.

I have to concur with Serge. Majority of these lyrics are off point. It was as if the person was trying to recall the lyrics after not hearing the song for a lengthy number of years. It would be best if the person was typing the lyrics whilst the song was playing.

The accuracy for these lyrics have missed the target for being correct with those on the actual song. It's a shame to confuse people who are trying to learn such a classic and landmark track.

Gorillaz – El Mañana Lyrics 17 years ago
Why is everyone associating this song with Iraq? Yes, the song was left vague for you to take your own interpretation. But, as deaffromsilence said, Albarn writes the lyrics. So, they are more about HIM than they are about the views of others. And, the issue with Iraq is a view of others.

If anyone is a true Albarn fan, you'll know that he WAS engaged to Justine Frischmann. And, if anyone was ever in that particular type of situation, you can see how a song like this is created. Plus, if anyone ever made music, before, you'll know that you have a tendency NOT to use all of your material when you go through an issue. Sometimes, you go back and use an old riff, or some old lyrics, or even a whole theme that you created years before. And, being that he has moved on with his life since, it would be wiser to "vague" a song's content afterwards. That way, it isn't AS personal as it could have been.

In truth, in the end you can take what you want from this and make it fit into whatever you deemed fit. That's the gift of a true artist, to allow the audience to get so wrapped inside of it that they will create their own backstory to apply it to an issue that is stirring inside of them.

So, in the end, it's about a girl/political issue/happiness/carrot cake . . . well, I'm stretching on the carrot cake part, but you get the drift.

Nine Inch Nails – Me, I'm Not Lyrics 17 years ago
It's "Hey, can we stop" Not what you have up there (can't stop). Aside from that, I believe that your lyrics are correct.

With the conceptualization that Trent has already put into play over this album . . . I would figure that this song is ACTUALLY about the Sniper.

I say this because the Sniper was once one of the Fictious Military Division. The "105th Airborne Crusaders" to be exactly. Pertaining to the audio files found on the ARG websites for this album, the Sniper ends up aiming at the government for what he learned about them:

"if I knew back then
what I know right now"

He starts aiming to show people what they are blinded to, even if it takes extreme measures. So, the lines

"Hey, Can we stop
Me, I'm not"

Is about him not "putting up his gun" and continuing to use it as he was instructed to do: To stop the oppressers of the people.

Also, the information (audio file and 105thairbornecrusaders website) came out directly before this song was "leaked".

MrSamurai is correct with his idea of what this song means.

I'd just like to add that the chorus

"that's what we're waiting for"

Is saying that, even though they are fighting against it, they are both waiting for it to get to the point where it is officially over and/or waiting for the part where each will no longer mourn over the death of the relationship.

And, in that respect, it is a love song. Not in the traditional "Come Back To Me" or "You Mean The World To Me" sense. It's more along the terms of "This is what happens when love reaches it's end".

The Start – Her Song Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that this song is about a girl talking to her boyfriend. And, that he constantly compare her to an ex-girlfriend of his. Obviously one that really hurt him pretty badly.

Also, the girl, the one talking to the guy, is asking him how what is it that reminds him of his ex; making fun of him with lines like:

"i could bleed
does it make me the same as her? "
"and i breathe
does it make me the same as her? "
&
"if i shake for you
does it make you feel
the way she made you feel"
The guy, apparently, isn't as excited about the new relationship as he was for the previous one. This portion helps me come up with that idea:

"i could show you things
but i feel that you have
seen it all before"

The line:

"how did you get so old?"

I feel, is the girl getting upset that he seems to be in an almost uncaring fashion. Making him seem like an old man who is nonchalant about anything that takes place. Also, I believe the girl talking to the guy is getting upset by the relationship.

Bloc Party – Kreuzberg Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's something similar to what uncommon valor stated. It is about failed relationships, obviously. Like, he is searching for love, and believing he's found it, only to find out that, when it ends, it was nothing but infatuation. It's a very deep song. Definitely a tune you could listen to while trying to get over a failed relationship.

And, if you follow what he's saying, he's not talking about giving up. But, rather continuing his search to grasp a hold of true love and not the poppy media crap that isn't and never will be real. It's just, he plans to go about it more sensibly.

Plus, it's rather intriguing that this song precedes "I Still Remember" on the track list.

Bloc Party – The Prayer Lyrics 17 years ago
Me, I took this a bit different from everyone else, and the video kind of confirmed it(imo).

I saw this as slightly poking fun of the people who are trying so hard to impress others. Those who want everyone to like them so that they can be socially accepted. The folks that are afraid to be themselves and have people either like them or not based on who they really are. Like the lines:

Is it so wrong to crave recognition?
Second best, runner-up
Is it so wrong to want rewarding?
To want more than is given to you?

Seems to be asking in a sarcastic tone. Like when you have a friend that does something really stupid, and instead of flat out telling them that it was dumb you respond with "Oh, Yeah, that's how you do it!"

And, I saw the video as them not really caring about being with the "in" crowd. So, the burning holes was looking into the characters on the floor and showing them as shallow beings. That's why it passed right through them and into something else.

But, that's just my interpretation.
