Rufus Wainwright – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is simply AMAZING. I have to thank all the prior comments on this song. When really sitting down to pick the lyrics apart, it really strikes me and makes me want to cry. I shall reveal my interpretation of this song.

If you read everything that had been posted earlier than you will see how the Bible referances go. There is no better referance then going to God when something like "Hallelujah" is a main theme. According to Wikipedia, Hallelujah is translated into "Praise Yah" which is short for Yahweh (God.) It is concidered a very joyful form of praise but, sang in this song, it almost sound sad or amazed... or perhaps the hallelujah is will always hurt because of the sin or feelings that are unable to be named. For this reason, instead of being speechless, there is a simple hallelujah.

As far as the other words go, there is the story about David. Before he was King he was a shepard that often wrote songs (Psalms) and when he came and played for the king it was so beautiful all he could think was hallelujah (in the book of Psalms in the Bible, hallelujah is commonly used) How could a boy who has so little could worship God with all he has? Hallelujah.

David became King and desired the wife of his general and so he sent for her. They slept together and he had the general secretly killed. Actions such as this would take honor away. It "broke your throne" and "cut your hair" which is a symbol of honor and pride but David just said "Praise Yahweh!" in of course the same sad hallelujah. (And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah *this is his feeling when they were in love*)

The rest of the song is comparing his love to a person. It doesn't change in the good or bad situations, he will be in love with them forever. It's a sorrow sounding and broken praise to God for such a blessing. Amazment.

In the last verse he is saying that the connotation for hallelujah is Biblical, he doesn't even know if he believes in God let alone if this song is about Him. It's about love, how simply complex it is - beautiful and sad.

Dashboard Confessional – Dusk and Summer Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, this song I do have to say is hard to find when you only remember part of the lyrics and you are searching all of the Dashboard Confessional songs in a couple albums. My boyfriend and I were chilling during this song and the lyrics "...and she kissed your teeth..." sounded out of, well out of no where really and he laughed, "what does THAT mean? 'kissed your teeth??'" I just giggled, "It's beautiful! Don't you see? He was smiling when she kissed him!" This is what got me interested in this song. He spent a couple days looking through his iPod for this song and that's how my feelings were established for this song. To this day, one of us will laugh and the other will give a random tooth kiss!

Haha anyway, I believe this song is about temporary happiness. Everything is perfect: scenery, company, and feelings (well there is a little akwardness with that.) He seems to know that this is too good to last forever. They are too happy. It's a shame.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Snow (Hey Oh) Lyrics 17 years ago
The more I try to pick apart this song the more it really seems as though it IS about Cocaine. I understand most everyone interprets songs differently but I feel as though him and his friends all do cocaine and really he feels alone.
The highs only free him from the real world.
When he desends he realizes that this life isn't getting him anywhere. He wants to quit but his friends are into it and he isn't to aggresive about dropping the addiction.
It is getting him no where but he just needs a push to quit.

The Servant – Orchestra Lyrics 17 years ago
I see this song and I just heard it for the first time ever today. It's on my iPod right now TBH. After reading the lyrics I have come to my interpretation of it. I feel it is of a teenage rebel. He keeps introducing himself and at the beginning as up in his room, yet he wants "you" to catch him. He is James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause" (metaphorically). He can't even relate to anyone totally. He goes to the movie theatre but, if you can see, he says to meet him there and yet he says that you can take him in your car. I am thinking that they either are just chilling, smoking pot, or something.

Of course, the Devil's Orchestra is this beautiful and tempting rebel part of him and his thoughts. Perhaps part of his concience.

I believe the "roll me in your hand" is an annalogy to say that it is easy for you to see what he is and "feel" what he is; it is obvious. He is strong and sly rebel, nonconformist as a "samurai" in a place where he doesn't share the same views as everyone else.

He meantions that no matter what happens, he will get down what he wants to say. His computer program will crash (or so to say) and he will just take out a pen and write it down instead of typing it. Perhaps trying to write the "song" in him, he'll start with his name and write out his thoughts after.

Akira Yamaoka – You're Not Here Lyrics 17 years ago
She was content, happy, once time... That was before she met someone and now she isn't happy without him. The world was right, it had beauty and she was content by herself and then she "stumbled" upon a man on accident and now she is restless. She realizes how much she needs him.

I love the comparison that she is addicted to him and her body physically aches. Beautiful

Akira Yamaoka – I Want Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I see this song and wonder how Akira could compose such a poetic and marvelous masterpiece. This has no relevence to the game of Silent Hill 3. I am thinking that this song was put onto the soundtrack because of the style of the song. It is a great way to end a CD!

The woman in this song has a deep yearning for a certain man. I know this is an obvious statement but there is more. He almost deprives her of his love (possibly unintentional, she hasn't told him yet.) I am guessing that they flirt and he is a great friend of hers that she is JUST starting to think of as MORE THAN a friend. She has had past relationships with different people and they all meant nothing (especially compared to this feeling she has towards her "friend") and he is the only person she has ever loved. He is the only one that can fill her, make her. She finally knows love but will he love her?

David Bowie – As the World Falls Down Lyrics 17 years ago
Of course, the is from the greatest of all movies, "Labyrinth."
David Bowie is so fricken amazing, I can see how much he is in love in this song.
If you don't know, Jareth is much much older than Sarah. Is the song "As the World Falls Down" Jareth is singing to her about how she is younger and she is searching for things that girls do her age. He has a more mature sense of love, and he has it for HER.
It's soo beautiful.

Akira Yamaoka – Cradel of Forest Lyrics 17 years ago
Life. This is Life. The mask we all put on to make the world seem so much better. It's a happy little forest but the real you, under the mask, is a beast. Colorful illusion that we put out to the world but you are really a monster.
And, in life, you are always being watched by the other "harmless creatures"

The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics 17 years ago
I see this beautiful song and I believe I know the meaning. It's about a girl who hates her family. She has sadness, deep depression. She hasn't talked with anyone, trusted anyone. It's in the POV of a guy who is falling for her. The addiction she speaks over could be drugs, but it also could be something as simple as cigarettes. She hides it from her parents and most people because she doesn't want to hear their scolding. I think that, perhaps she was content before her friend or brother died (the lock of hair) but as she is growing up she is maturing and realizing more about the world.

She says she talks to angels. Perhaps the talking to them started by talking with her dead brother/friend. He is an angel.I also believe that she is so sad still that, when she "pulls those shades down tight" and then the pain comes, it makes her happy. This can only mean one thing. She cuts. It's her escape.

The guy singing about her cares about her when she doesn't even care about herself. He believes that she will become a Christian someday but I think he still has to introduce himself to her.

Akira Yamaoka – Hometown Lyrics 17 years ago
Silent Hill. Simply the best series ever. I really like this song because it is outwordly just talking about how no one is safe from Silent Hill, even if you don't believe.
On a metaphoric note, I believe that it could mean to keep your morals and believe in God. You think it's fun for a while but then, as time progresses, you feel dead. You die. When the guy talks about that low he is having everyone laughs. "She and he will know"

The Pillows – Hybrid Rainbow (English translation) Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe that these two are in their imagined haven together alone (perfect). They are abandoned there but it's not that big of a deal. One has a prism where the stay out all day in the sun. The light angles into a rainbow which they shine on each other. They ask if they can feel where the shine o f the rainbow is on their skin, a beautiful display and yes they feel it.

Cowboy Bebop – Adieu Lyrics 17 years ago
What a beautiful song. I do have to say that I believe the woman singing it is yearning deep inside to be with her love. Oh how she loves him! He died/is dying. She is by his death bed and she is loving him and she had been trying to hold on for many days now but now they must say goodbye. Pain is inevitable, suffering is opitional.

I loved this song and then it was on Sin City, which was great. I believe this song is about everyday life, apathy and how pathetic people can be. They have a life and they should really live! (long version short)

Slipknot – Vermilion, Pt. 2 Lyrics 17 years ago
This song dicribes an emotionally terrible struggle a man is having. Perhaps prior to this woman, he didn't know how to feel love. He had lust or just fun. He has finally found someone he cares about, and wants to care about... She is close to perfection. The struggle is should he want to be with her and let her overbearing tourture seep into his head or just convince himself she is only a mirage.

Iron & Wine – Each Coming Night Lyrics 17 years ago
(I see that this song is a man questioning if his lover will always have him on her mind when he dies. Will she move on and how easy will it be)

The times and places that they were together were taken for granted but will she realize it AFTER he's gone?

Will she miss being embraced now that they aren't able to embrace each other any longer?

Will she remember when they both became Christians, giving their lives to God and being baptized together?

Will she let his face fade out but still be remembered? Kind of like how the sun will leave for the night but it “makes a deal” to come back in the morning
