i was walking down my street listening to this on my ipod yesterday and i thought it was about Alice in Wonderland. and other people have already said that too. the off with their heads and the swallow anything you despise were the two things that made me think of Alice in Wonderland. and the mentioning of petals and their bright blood. I saw In Good Company today and I nearly cried when this song was played at the end as he was running along the beach. I'm in love with Topher Grace. Seriously, he is so gorgeous, especially in that movie. I already knew thesong and it's definitley one of my favourite songs in the world. It really worked beautifully at the end of the movie. |

this song completley owns Konstantine. They remind me of eachother for some reason. They both go for 9 and a half minutes and have many fans who worship the song but to me this is the intelligent and more meaningful one because lyrically, music doesnt get much better than this. I can't fathom why Konstantine has like 50 something pages of comments and this only has 4. But I don't mind because I don't want this song to become a thrashed out cliche on every emo's myspace page like Konstantine has become. This song is beautiful. |

what does this song mean to me??? everything.
I listen to this song every single day on the train ride home from school and watch the world go by and I just feel so sedated.. but in a good way. My favourite bits are when he says 'fuck the man' cos he kinda emphasises 'fuck' and it sounds cool. and 'so bright.. on cinder gray" sounds awesome.

I really think it's impossible to pinpoint that ONE Death Cab song that I can say is clearly my favourite. This song is definitley tied first along with Steadier Footing, 405 acoustic and Lightness.
Whenever I listen to this song I get brilliant imagery of a cross section of an old victorian style townhouse with a young student living there and it's like I'm kind of watching the events in his life as it they depicted in this song but it's happening almost as though it is being fast fowarded (like the 'A Movie Script Ending' video).
I probably sound like a nutcase. I think about things waaay too much. Oh well.
