The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics 17 years ago
Basically, summing up the whole Beatles philosophy, a beautiful song about unity and brotherhood.

Yay for Beatles!

Guns N' Roses – Mama Kin (Aerosmith cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
it's good. Don't think it's as good as Aerosmith's version, but it's okay.

submissions
Ozzy Osbourne – No Bone Movies Lyrics 17 years ago
I've heard that the count-in the beginning is a parody of "Can't Get Enough" by Bad Company

submissions
Ozzy Osbourne – Thunder Underground Lyrics 17 years ago
It's not amongst my favourite Ozzy songs. It's okay though. I think it's about all the people who claim Ozzy to be evil and the antichrist, and their hypocrisy. Thunder Undrground being the sound of hell opening up for them.

Aerosmith – Back In The Saddle Lyrics 17 years ago
I wouldn't exactly call it subtle. It's pretty obvious what the lyrics are about. It's about sex in the ol' west. But it could also be interpreted as a re-introduction to their listners as it's the opening track on their Rocks album (one of my all time favourite albums)

Van Halen – Poundcake Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought it was the guitar, but he does use a drill in the video. But I always thought more for visual effect.

I think it's about sex. Plain sex, not kinky, but just basic body chemistry.

Black Sabbath – Hole In The Sky Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, it's about the afterlife. I mean, if you look at things like Hinduism, they view ascending to the afterlife through a portal, which to me is what the "hole" represents.

submissions
AC/DC – Heatseeker Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, probably more like seeking body heat.

submissions
Guns N' Roses – Yesterdays Lyrics 17 years ago
About leaving the past behind and looking to the future. It could possibly have some shrouded meaning to Steve Adler, but I'm not too sure. Maybe I'm reading waaaaaaay too deep into it.

Van Halen – Dreams Lyrics 17 years ago
One of my favourite songs with Sammy Hagar, but I'm more of a Diamond Dave kinda guy.

I think it's about no matter what obstacles you face, you'll be with your love in the end.

submissions
Def Leppard – Gods Of War Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about war and people playing god with it. Like how with nuclear weapons we have the ability to destroy the world and doing "god's work"

submissions
Van Halen – Unchained Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree. It's about freedom from a relationship.

Def Leppard – Rocket Lyrics 17 years ago
Jack Flash = Rolling Stones (Jumpin' Jack Flash)
rocket man = Elton John (Rocket Man)
Sergeant Pepper and the band = The Beatles (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Song/album)
Ziggy = David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust)
Benny and the Jets = Elton John (Bennie And The Jets)
satellite of love = Lou Reed (Satellite Of Love)

Jet = Wings (Jet) ?

Johnny B = Chuck Berry (Johnny B. Goode)
Gene Jenie, = David Bowie (Jean Genie)
Killer Queen = Queen (Killer Queen
Dizzy Lizzy = The Beatles (Dizzy Miss Lizzy)
Major Tom = David Bowie (Space Oddity)

Those are all the references I knew about. Still uncertain about Jet Black. And I like many others used to think Dizzy Lizzy was a reference to Thin Lizzy.

Guns N' Roses – Mr. Brownstone Lyrics 17 years ago
It's about heroin addiction. There were a lot of drugs going around GNR when this was written (which of course carried on for years) the irony being that the song became even truer with the band with age.

Ozzy Osbourne – Mama I'm Coming Home Lyrics 17 years ago
an example of "absense makes the heart grow fonder" Someone who drives you crazy in so many ways but being away from them so long makes love them a lot more.

submissions
Alice Cooper – Muscle of Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about reaching puberty and looking at girls a different way. The "muscle" could refer to both the heart and the penis. But there are references to masturbation (Lock the door in the bathroom now
I just can't get caught in here)

Queen – Father To Son Lyrics 17 years ago
One of my favourite tracks on the album. The way it goes through all the different sections so efforlessly is amazing!

submissions
Queen – Funny How Love Is Lyrics 17 years ago
One of Queen's exprimentations with the wall of sound tecnique as they did a lot in the early days (as well as in the "side-project" Larry Lurex.) It's just a song about all the other kinds of love and how they are all wonderful.

Queen – Some Day One Day Lyrics 17 years ago
The first couple of lines in the song (you never heard my song before/the music was too loud) always seemed to explain Brian's views as a songwriter. He usually wrote Queen's heavie tunes (although Mercury and Taylor still wrote a lot of heavy stuff in the early days too.)

I always thought it was about a magical quest started by a prince in childhood and through all the years has journeyed to his princess fair.

Queen – The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke Lyrics 17 years ago
Based on a painting by Richard Dadd. A very disturbed man mentally.I have a copy of the painting hanging in my room. A complete contrast to Ogre Battle but how can you hate a song so giddy and frivolous?

submissions
Queen – The Loser in the End Lyrics 17 years ago
This is probably one Roger's finest performances as a vocalist and drummer. The fills towards the end are mindblowing and very John Bonham-esque.

Queen – The March Of The Black Queen Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm probably gonna get a lot bad replies to this but...It's not my favourite. I still like it...I do think it's underrated....and I admit it's historically very important for Queen but it's not my favourite.

As for what the song's about...well Queen II is probably Queen's most prog-rock album. And it tells a story of fairies and queens and such. As for the Black Queen...I see her a something like a debauched contrast to the innocent White Queen. Either that or it could be the Whit Queen as an impure being (eg: having lost her virginity)

KISS – God Of Thunder Lyrics 17 years ago
Those kids (who were the children of producer Bob Ezrin) are great. This is one my favourite songs to perform (I'm a singer) not a great song for range, but you can do some really powerful stuff.

KISS – Detroit Rock City Lyrics 17 years ago
A great intro (album version) this is one of my absolute favourite KISS songs. As for Philadelphia Eagles, KISS may not have been the best musicians ever. But did they ever claim to be!? KISS didn't stand for being pretentious beliefs in being "just musicians" they were about having a good time and what's wrong with that?

KISS – Shout It Out Loud Lyrics 17 years ago
One of the great party anthems by one of the great party bands

KISS – Beth Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe Criss wrote it with a guy named Steve Penridge in one of Peter's earlier bands. It was originally titled "Beck" as well.

Queen – Jealousy Lyrics 17 years ago
I see it pssobly as a continuation of White Queen (As It Began) from Queen II. Though I know it was written about a different member of Queen. The main reason for this is because it's the only other Queen song to feature the sitar-styled acousitc guitar (although The Night Goes Down has something similar) Kind of a lame reason but still...It's a bout the protgananist from White Queen finally getting the woman he admired from afar and then losing her from his jealousy.

Queen – Dead On Time Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought it was about how life's all filled with stress. Especially due to careers, money etc. and that it's important to just slow down and relax otherwise you might end up...dead.

Queen – Calling All Girls Lyrics 17 years ago
The video of course refrefencing, the cult George Lucas fil THX 1138 (pre-Star Wars) What this has with the song, I don't know. It could be about how there's all this negative bullshit in the world about war and hunger and death, but ultimately it's important to get the message out that there's good in the world.

Queen – If You Can't Beat 'em Lyrics 17 years ago
Not one of my faves, I confess. It's still good though and it does grow on me. I don't know if this puts a view against conformity or for conformity (the latter of course in an ironic, sarcastic sense.) Anyone else have a view on it?

Queen – Fun It Lyrics 17 years ago
Roger's songs aren't the best in Queen, but I don't dislike this song. I just don't feel strongly about it either way. It's probbly Queen's interpretation of disco, just like Sheer Heart Attack was a reaction Punk.

submissions
Queen – Mustapha Lyrics 17 years ago
It's just pure tongue-in-cheek. I believe the three languages are Parsi, English and just complete Arabic-sounding jibberish. I believe a lot of people took exception to this when it came out and believed it to be slightly racist. Of course, not knowing that the songwriter was originally from this part of the world and was just having a light joke.

submissions
Queen – Fat Bottomed Girls Lyrics 17 years ago
I would say it relates to Whole Lotta Rosie. FBM was witten in 1978, a year after Whole Lotta Roise and just when AC/DC were beginning to make an international impact. Fat Bottomed Girls is also very close to AC/DC anyway (I mean, for a Queen song) So it could be atribute to AC/DC. I tcould also be a tribute to Aerosmith. I mean, whilst this isn't too much of an Aerosmith-style song it could have some similarities. That and Queen and Aerosmith were also very close friends.

Queen – Bicycle Race Lyrics 17 years ago
If you want to know what I think, It could just be about a guy. The whole call-response thing could be him just describing what associates things with and what he likes/dislikes. But above all, of course, he loves to ride his bicycle.

Queen – Nevermore Lyrics 17 years ago
I like it. I think it could do with being a little longer, but other than that, just beautiful especially the piano.

submissions
Queen – Procession Lyrics 17 years ago
I know it's a song and all, but I always picture it as just being written exclusively for Father To Son. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I see. I wonder if originally the 2 were just 1 song?

submissions
Queen – Liar Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with freddieismyqueen. I think it's purely a "boy who cried wolf" thingand also seems to have his response to the situation. The "all day long" section probably comes from his rising fear. Either pleading with his mother, or some female saint I guess (possibly Mary)

submissions
Queen – Jesus Lyrics 17 years ago
Simply, it's about Jesus. I've read it was one of the first (if not THE first) song written specifically for the band. Freddie wasn't Christian, he was Zoroastrian (sp?) so why he wrote a song about Jesus is a mystery, but I doubt that it was a profound religious statement.

I always thought it was a bout th dream of being a big rock star but having little money and knowing that in reality stardom will probably never happen.

Last few lines, sorry.

Queen – Lily Of The Valley Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree it does signify a passing from the mystical prog of Queen/Queen II (although prog was still in Queen's repetoire in later albums. eg: Bohemian Rhapsody, Prophet's Song, Innuendo.) It could also be about a search for peace. Cerainly, the few lines seem to be about that.
