I agree with the whole "album starts with Bangkok" theory. I hadn't thought about it before I read it here, but after listening to it in that order several times, it seems almost undeniable to me. The big question isn't whether or not the album starts with "Bankok", it's why does the album not start with track 1? I think it has to do with the fact that Welcome to Bangkok is 7 (God) and ends on 6 (the Devil). It also leads to a cyclical album. If the album begins and ends in the middle of the cd, it never really ends. Sort of like the battle between God and the Devil. The fact that the album (and the struggle) never end is actually suggested in "Untitled" ("This never ends"). |

I think that, at least in some regard, sowing season is a response to this song. The character in "Not the Sun" (the female character, i think) sings, "You say you're my friend But why won't you be my family?" and also is clearly pleading with the other character to love her. In "Sowing Season", the male character responds with, "I am not your friend, your lover, or your family". This also possibly relates to "Luca" (although I'm not sure). The two characters in these two songs could be the two involved in the murder in "Luca". |
