Mischief Brew – The Lowly Carpenter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
there is obvious sarcasm in the line "i am a lowly carpenter, so what have i power to do?" and the other lines like it.. in the beginning of the song he is like describing how small and insignificant that their superiors see them. then at the end it describes how powerful they are becasue there are so many more of them and stuff like that. |
Mischief Brew – Boycott Me! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
FOP= Fraternal Order of Police I believe this song is about how how the FOP in Philadelphia were boycotting any company or band that supported a convicted cop killer from 1981. The convicted cop killer wrote a book in jail or something like that. I am not sure exactly how the story went but you can look further into it. |
Against Me! – Up the Cuts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
does it bother anyone else that they sing more freaking songs about the music industry and how MTV sucks and how they are bored with their music but still play it anyway and blah blah blah all this crap.. they sing more about their music then they do about politics and important things in life anymore.. kinda selfish in a way dont you think? |
Mad Caddies – Nobody Wins At The Laundromat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is great. it does take a few times to get used to but it has an awesome energy. i agree that it is about a betrayal of some kind. i think it is about any situation where the person you arent communicating with for some reason thinks you are going to crack first and come crawling back to them and this song is basically saying "screw you. cant you see that im stronger than that?" I love the line " you won't see me crying, washed my hands clean." That is my favorite line becasue the person is saying "you arent going to see me breakdown over this whole situation, it is off of my consciense. Now it is up to you to decide what you are going to." Thats how i take it atleast... amazing song anyway that you take it. |

The Hippos – When Will I Learn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is such a cool song. I'd say it is fairly obvious what it is about. I guy really likes a girl, and he is just an overall nice guy. Then he probably watches this girl keep going back to these guys who are like "HO HUM! The world is not for me!." He, however knows that they are just faking that attitude for attention, and it understandably pisses him off, because he was being honest with her and they are being fake and he wants her to realize that. |
Streetlight Manifesto – A Moment of Silence Lyrics | 16 years ago |
mrpants5060: he might not have anything against them anymore... that doesnt mean that he didnt when he wrote the song. tomas is not one to spew out lyrics a month before recording an album. and i think that there are references to catch 22 in it but it was not intended to be only that.. it seems tomas tries to connect to his listeners on some level and thats what music does it is supposed to help you realize that you are not the only one feeling that way and there is no reason why people cant interpret songs in their own way because like someone said if you didnt know about the catch 22 thing yo uwoudlnt think about it that way and would assume it is a song about bein rejected. |
Rx Bandits – Metal Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Mischief Brew – Save A City... Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i just read up on that incident and like i live in philadeplhia so i knew something about a house being bombed by the police but i didtn know what it was..and it all makes sense and the wikipedia page even mentions that that incident is mentioned in this song. and he mentions how when it occured that they covered his ears so he couldnt hear... which i think is about how so many kids are kept ignorant and how most grow up ignorant to the world around them. "So the crime was a trip to the market. The sentence, a lifetime of hurt, as she saw through tears, her home of thirty of years reduced to rubble and dirt. " probably about someone who lived in the general are of where the incident occured and she went out to the market and came back and was just like "wtf" in simple terms... just how she was affected by somethign she wasnt even involved in but was silenced by the government.. haha idk |

Big D and the Kids Table – 175 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ULTIMATE ROCKS!!! not much meaning to this song really..just a goofy type song about the joys of ultimate frisbee.. i even liked this song before i played frisbee.. and i thought they were talking about some kinda drug.. called dis or something.. and i was confused.. but then i realized that 175 was the grams in an ultimate frisbee (and of course i use the term frisbee for easier understanding as i am aware that it is a brand and the sport is simply called ultimate) hoorah ultimate! |
Big D and the Kids Table – Good Luck Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with that for the most part except i think it maybe be more personal to the write (david i assume?) big d and the kids table are a great band.. but they went through lots of rough times and spent some times bumming off friends and living in friends' houses.. i think.. i may have gotten my information messed up.. but i know they definitly dont live the lives of rockstars and they are just normal people. but david probably looks around at his friends... who at age 22 are finishing up college and getting a set plan for life.. and he may have been confused as to whether he was making the right decision doing he something he loves (playing in a band) "When I was younger, I didn't know life meant falling into place Taking over a menuel position that meant nothing to you in the first place" in this song he seems to argue both sides of the points of doing what you love or doing what is best for you financially and such... which shows that at the time he may have been confused about his decision. "Well there's a cycle I won't be part of, but not because I don't think it's right" he doesnt want to insult anyone who may have chosen the life because he himself is not sure what is right and wrong. he just wants to send the message that think about your life dont get caught up in it and end up doing somethin gyou hate just because people persuade you do.. do what you love even if it means going against the norms. then he lists all the "good lucks" which all describe the ideal life for someone.. and he is wishing you luck and hopes you can achieve all of these goals. |
