Nellie McKay – Really Lyrics

I think this song is about excuses. it's about people that are too lazy to live their lives according to their beliefs and make stupid excuses for themselves. I think that Nellie specifically had in mind people who make excuses for eating animals and animal products and refusing to make a change, because animal rights is something that she feels very strongly about. |

jungle like? primitive? that is the stupidest, most culturally ignorant thing i've ever heard. And the Amazon is nowhere near India. |

The food that I’m eating
Is suddenly tasteless
This line is so amazing to me. when i realized i couldn't be with my boyfriend anymore i was eating strawberries, and then when i came to that realization the strawberries suddenly lost their taste and i had to push them away because i had no will to eat them anymore. |

"And if that pregnancy test comes out positive,
then girl i don't know how the hell we're going to live.
Maybe on your bright ideas," - amazing line!! |

the translation is good :D "i'm really small" should actually be just "i'm small," but it doesn't really matter |

Regina Spektor – Bon Idée Lyrics

To me this song is reminiscent of the book Siddhartha. Siddhartha disliked and mistrusted words because when an idea can't be put into words exactly the way you want it; it can come out wrong and be manipulated. Also, a major theme in Siddhartha was that love is the most important thing in the world, which explains the "Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love" parts in the beginning and end of the song. |

this is just a fun song. she's happy to live with her parents and her brother because at least she doesn't have a soul-sucking 9 to 5 job. |

i can't believe how many people are saying usher is a jerk who deserves to be unhappy. he is a human being who makes mistakes, and clearly he regrets them and is trying to fix them. |

when i first heard
"you don't know what love is til you see
her standing there
a web of skin and nails and hair
a web of skin and nails and hair and bones and bones and
thoughts"
i automatically thought of a law in the old testament. it said that if a man wished to marry a female prisoner of war, he had to have her go for a month without cutting her nails, bathing, taking care of her hair, etc, and at the end of the month he decides if he still wants to marry her. perhaps regina is trying to reference this and say that you don't know what love is until you see your loved one at their least attractive and you can truly appreciate them for who they are on the inside. |

I think Regina is trying to bash communism and capitalism and basically say that they both don't work. |
