Morbid Angel – Dawn Of The Angry Lyrics 16 years ago
I'll tell you all a band that's heavier: Bolt Thrower. But Morbid Angel has the best releases of the 3. Killswitch Engage is pussy-boy metal, regardless, and they suck. I honestly don't care if they rip off Death Metal acts to be more XTREME!!1 when all it is is an excuse to be more "TEH ANGREEEZ" about why some stupid bitch broke up with him. Lame. Into the ovens.

Although I agree with your post for the most part, Boaal, I don't agree with this:

"just as you won't find fangirls creaming over .....Cannible Corpse etc. " Cannibal Corpse is an infamously used "OMG I R TEH EVILZ BIIITCH I HATE PPL AND WNT KILL OMG CREAMCREAM" band for teenage angst. Amongst girls as well. Anyways. Morbid Angel rules.

"* Hypocrite * NOT hypocrit, moron. I'll post what I like. Maybe you should get out more and stop taking yourself and your music TOO seriously. Not sure what the TROLL comment was about, and your petty defense of this awful band really does make you seem like a twat. My comments have been posted, so deal with it. If I wasn't allowed to make negative comments, someone from this site would've stopped me, so get over it, get out more, oh and stop getting your knickers in a twist over something relatively umimportant (IE. YOU and your taste in music). "

You have absolutely no place to comment on my taste in music, shithead. Punk is supposed to have venom, simply because YOU mistake that venom for spreading violence is your fucking problem, not mine. And don't even correct my spelling, asshole, it's a comment page on a song meaning site...in which more often than not the lyrics themselves are posted with 0 grammar and loads of spelling errors. Who the fuck cares. Get off your high horse and go fuck your own stupid shitty taste in music in the ass, cockgobbler.

This isn't even close to my favourite band, I don't think they're reovutionary or anything, I enjoy their music, and I do realize there are loads of better punk/hardcore bands, especially the ones of the early 80's (UK 82 and American Hardcore 81), but the thing about this band is they have the energy and the feel to spread at least a few punk ideals and for musical purposes, revitalized the punk aesthetics and conventions that are all but disappeared in the modern hardcore scene under waves and waves of metalcore, "grindcore" (not quite similar to first wave grindcore of 89) and what they pass as "emotive hardcore" nowadays. Good day, assface. Expect me to respond to your stupidity-ridden, arrogant response in a few more months. :)

Slayer – Angel Of Death Lyrics 16 years ago
To all the people saying that hispanics can't be Nazi...anyone can you fucktards, Nazism is a political ideology/system along with Sociology, Fascism, Democracy, Anarchy, Libertarianism etc etc.

Honestly I don't see why people think they are satanist or support nazism. Satanism in metal generally acts as a metaphor for anti-religion. And the lyrics in this song don't condone nazism, they have said for nazism and satanism in interviews that they are merely interested in the subjects and sought to explore them musically. A truly nazi/skinhead band would be Skrewdriver or the like, not Slayer.

"I couldn't give two flying shites about what Come Friendly Bombs ACTUALLY means."

Then you shouldn't be posting here, take your hate somewhere else. Troll. I don't go around posting on band's I absolutely hate just to stir up shit. I think you're just a hypocrit. "Oh noes teh violence of this band hurts me" and all you want to do is incite hate.

Shites? Are you 14 yourself? Go delete your account, please, and spare us your hatemongering.

Rites of Spring – For Want Of Lyrics 16 years ago
"why is it a rule that every thread about rites of spring must degrade into an argument about what classifies as emo? why?"

Maybe because they're widely thought of as the creators of the genre?

And Minded, you don't have to justify that you aren't an "emo" lol. I listen to these guys amongst many others that fit into punk/hardcore/metal, so I don't think it's really a big deal. Good music is good music.

I've heard they aren't fans of mainstream religion, but that they believe in god. I don't know. That's what I've heard. Yeah, I suppose that your interpretation that he's singing about his agnosticism would be pretty correct as well.

Metallica – The Four Horsemen Lyrics 16 years ago
"Church would kick ass if they had that, the church I go to plays punk before the service and I think most punk sucks, sorry if I offend anyone here, but I prefer metal better. "

True punk wouldn't be allowed to be played in Church, neither would true metal, as they are both as anti-religious as you would like to believe. So whatever "punk" (greenday? lmao) your church would play before mass would be pretty tame and undoubtably pop drivel. Either that or Christcore. What a laugh.

I think this song is about how humanity itself has chained itself to its own apocalypse. The biblical allusions aren't supportive of Christianity, I don't think so at least. I'm still new to metal (I still like punk/hardcore better but they're both very awesome genres).

Refused – Hate Breeds Hate Lyrics 16 years ago
The members of Refused are anarchists, they don't believe in democracy in the first place. (That it works, and that it's "integrity" is actually just.)

This song also predates the common anti-terrorism ideals of the US. I think it's just a comment on the way the US handles its domestic and foreign affairs...poorly (but then do any nation states know what they're doing? I wouldn't say so). Really good lyrics though.

Crass – Berkertex Bribe Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that it is more general, it's about how people view relationships, how it's been bred into us since birth, and how it's been imbedded into our history. Eve is an inspiring woman. her voice is so haunting as well, it really suits the lyrics of this album, probably my favourite female fronted album I know of.

Probably their most political song on the cd, along with Bland New Age. The lyrics are pretty straight forward.

I changed my mind, I don't know what to make of these guys. Keep hearing contradicting statements of them being satirical and being semi-serious about these topics. Whatever. I'll stop multiposting.

Gallows – Will Someone Shoot That Fucking Snake Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, I like Gallows and I hate all three of those bands. That's just the majority of users on this site...

But I don't see why they call themselves punk really. Only about 3-4 of the songs deal with social issues beyond the overdone "don't betray my heart" lameness. I still like them at this point. I'll have to see what they do in their next full album though.

All is dream, do you know what the word satire means? Obviously not. You're a tool. Go listen to the Ramones and go be ubar punxxx.

This song, as well as much of the rest of the album, is their angst about how people realy aren't treated as equals, and how women are still treated as sexual tools. The song "Come Friendly Bombs" would appear to you to be some crazy violent Moshcore song as the likes of Hatebreed or Agnostic Front, but it's actually about how they are sick of people being violent just for the sake of being violent. The Dead Kennedys had to deal with idiot Neo-Nazi's as well, because their *satirical* music wasn't caught on as being satirical.

Wednesday Night Heroes – Open Fire Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is a "battlecry" in response to the fear the mainstream has of individualism (but being unified as humans, hence the 3rd stanza) and how those that don't conform tend to be marginalized, the firing squad situation being a metaphor for the opppression of the masses. It's an angry retort in response to how society percieves people that dont fit into the mould, and its a call to arms to rebel against the popular authority.

Against Me! – Reinventing Axl Rose Lyrics 17 years ago
Simply a slam on manufactured corporate rock, which AM! strives (strove in some opinions) to topple. Axl Rose the frontman of GnR (I think? I get them and ACDC confused for some reason, but I dislike them both so I don't honestly care) are considered one of the earlier "corporate rock" bands, with all of the Arena Rock bands I suppose.

Tom is pretty much trying to say that music should be about music, like deadman said.

The Exploited – Fuck The U.S.A. Lyrics 17 years ago
You people obviously don't understand the punk psyche. This song is from back in Reagan's administration. I don't think they were trying to say that the UK was alot better, but they certainly weren't the major focal point of the nuclear buildup during the cold-war like the USSR and USA. Apocalypse/nuclear holocaust was a big theme of UK 82 and American Hardcore, and Japanese Hardcore of the times.

They were trying to say that the USA is certainly not the place of freedom it professed to be. Democracy was and arguably still is a sham. I don't need to get into the proof. Politics don't work, no matter what spectrum.

Don't get your self-righteous American heads all-heated up, please. Go comment on the music that best reflects people like you: mainstream happy-moron garbage. And no don't say I hate Americans, because I don't...I just hate naive tools.

Rites of Spring – For Want Of Lyrics 17 years ago
Christ Energy, Minor Threat is the pioneer band of straight edge....they are not emotive hardcore...

And I agree with Ichibanobso with the spiritualism I suppose. But I'd say Husker Du would also be a good example of that. Zen Arcade at least.

And new "emo" is pop-emo. In most cases at least.

And about the song, I think it could be about any past that haunts you, not even just a relationship with a girlfriend or boyfriend etc.

The Comeback Kid – Market Demands Lyrics 17 years ago
Kinda tired at the moment but I think this song might be pretty straightforward, unless I'm missing some references of course. About conformity, and corporate and personal greed...taking the easy way out.

I really like this song just after one listen, not just the lyrics but it falls together nearly perfectly.

The Comeback Kid – Broadcasting... Lyrics 17 years ago
This is one of their songs that gets me hooked on the first listen, like Wake the Dead did for ...Wake the Dead, and like Give and Take did for Turn it Around. Which is good, because then their even better songs, the growers, get a chance.

But yeah, anyways its more or less about propaganda. Props to them for more "punkish" lyrics. As far as hardcore goes nowadays its usually not too far beyond personal issues, which is alright in its place.

Raised Fist – Bleed Under My Pen Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this has to do with the globalisation and westernisation/americanisation of the modern world.

He mentions the killing and war, and how Christianity has helped to propel this globalization, despite many nations being or claming to be secular, such as the US they are actually heavily influenced by religion.

Barbie and Ken are a reference to commercialism/capitalism.

Raised Fist – And Then They Run Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, on the obvious note, it's about physical abuse in intimate relationships and how the victim usually blames themselves. And even the part "and your so called friends pretends like they can't see it,
they defend the bastard until the end and when it hurts me " is true, alot of people will defend an abuser if they think it's not possible for them to be abusive, usually saying "oh they'd never do that."

It could be metaphorical as well, I've noticed that most of Raised Fist's songs are politically/socially motivated...not to be captain obvious of course.
