Avail – Black And Red Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'd of thought it was about anarcho-syndicalism. Black and Red are the colours of the anarcho-syndicalist flag and numerous other references to anarchist philosophy. The line "conditioned to compete whether you lose or if you win" which refers to the capitalist theory of businesses competing to stimulate economic growth, as opposed to the co-operative nature of most anarchist theories, makes it most evident other then mentioning Black and Red. Could be wrong, but I don't really see what else it could be. |
At the Drive-In – One Armed Scissor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't get why everyone refuses to listen to what the band has to say about their songs. As far as I'm aware they've said on a few occasions that it's about being on tour. |
At the Drive-In – Quarantined Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Anyone listen to the guy earlier who mentioned Cedrics explanation of the song indicating it was about people over the border to El Paso thinking they'd have a better life but ended up not having a much better one? I did. |
Dead Kennedys – A Growing Boy Needs His Lunch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think there's too many narrow minded punk that listen to this album and immediately assume they're trying to do another punk album and haven't pulled it off. The whole point of it seems to me to try to be a bit more experimental and get away from the whole punk thing a bit. Like grimeboy says they seem to have built on their weird creepy sound, it's just a pity they don't seem to have mixed it as well as they could have done. |
NOFX – Anarchy Camp Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah its much more about the commericialisation of an anti-capitalist political theory. i don't really get what you mean by hypocrite, to be honest its somewhat difficult to live an anarchist lifestyle in a capitalist society. if i don't buy into it to an extent then i'm gonna starve to death and i'm not going to prove of much use then am i? being anit-capitalist isnt about not having an money, THATS absurd, i try to do my best to do things in a way that limits my need to work and spend but however if i dont have money i cannot use my consumer power to help out businesses that i believe are ethical and in my opinion thats better then fucking about ranting on about how much i hate the concept of money (which i do in a sense but not entirely) anyone here bitching about the un-structured nature of anarchy clearly knows little or nothing of the philosophy so i suggest you do a little reading before you bash on your keyboards regarding a subject your not familiar with. anarchy is about self-governance not no government whatsoever, the idea that anarchy is about going round smashing things and getting what you want all the time is one purpotrated by morons like the sex pistols and media institutions lap it up because it is an easy way to target such a theory and breed a general consensus that it is idiotic. there are theories on anarchy that include police, money and many things that most would think of as 'un-anarchist' people are quite right to think that on a mass scale it is not something achievable at the moment but there are plenty of places where it is implemented as a form of political organisation on a smaller scale |
Propagandhi – Ladies' Nite in Loserville Lyrics | 17 years ago |
to me it just seems that it's having a rant at woman who think they're better then men and call themselves "feminists". there's also several references which suggest that it's also saying these kind of people are only concerned with womans issues: "so don't lay your ‘repressed' shit on me" implies that they're mocking them for thinking that they think woman are the only repressed peoples i think the needle dick line reinforces the stereotypical 'no man's good enough' kind of attitude that they seem to be pissed off about. not exactly sure though, i'm very much for any sort of equal rights though, my old english teacher at leeds college of music (a supposedly liberal, fair trade food serving, "equal oppertunities" college) didn't get paid as much as her fellow teachers solely because of that kind of discrimination, which is bullshit |
Propagandhi – America’s Army™ (Die Jugend Marschiert) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
interesting to note that its trying to get me to to join the british army at the bottom of the screen... |
Propagandhi – Purina Hall Of Fame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i dont think this song is entirely to do with animals just any kind of inethical treatment of life |
Propagandhi – America’s Army™ (Die Jugend Marschiert) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
but take grand theft auto for example, the game that gets the most shit from the media, politicians etc. GTA mocks gang warfare, police bruitality, drug dealing, the arms trade, war and all forms of violence if you take the time to pay attention to the storyline behind it (which is funny as fuck by the way) AA is shite though and propagandhi have a very good point |
Propagandhi – America’s Army™ (Die Jugend Marschiert) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the songs meaning aside counterstrike doesnt really glorify war in an apparent way to me other then trivialising it so if people take things to that level then surely any video game depicting violence is gloryfying it |
Propagandhi – A Speculative Fiction Lyrics | 17 years ago |
jord mentions in one of his radio interviews (i think it was off a link i got on wikipedia or something trying to find out if that new beaver guy is actually in the band or their just taking the piss out off us again) that it is supposed to be having a go at canadian patriotism like indigi mentioned as well as the fictonal cold war of course |
