Cut Copy – Feel the Love Lyrics 10 years ago
I think the song is pretty straightforward. It sounds to me like he's saying all of the people he knows are suffering heartbreak, but the clouds have a silver lining because he thinks he's found the girl he can love forever. To me it's always sounded like "Me and you got something to do, could this be true? It all comes back to you." While everyone else is suffering, they're having fun, they've got stuff to do, and it might be true love. It all comes back to her and what she thinks, and if she wants it to last as badly as he does. That's what I think it's about.

Band of Horses – Our Swords Lyrics 10 years ago
This so song is so amazingly fantastic. I love the bass line that goes through the whole song. It's such a simple song, but so beautiful. Which is what Band of Horses does best.

I agree that it's not about suicide. Falling on our own swords is, I think, more of an expression of making a mistake, taking a misstep.

Rogue Wave – Lake Michigan Lyrics 10 years ago
I agree that this is another indie song which hints at a deeper meaning that isn't there. It's a pointless, albeit beautiful song. There are a few lines which hint that MAYBE it's about environmental concern, but I think that too many people try and tie these indie songs into current events, but the connection is way too far reaching. Most of the other lines of the song have no connection to it.

This song is so pleasant and enjoyable. I like that effect played against the lyrics "die die die."

LCD Soundsystem – Get Innocuous! Lyrics 11 years ago
I can't believe there's only two comments on this song!! This is by far my most favorite song on what is an absolutely incredible album!! I just saw them in New York last weekend with Arcade Fire. They opened with this song and it was a-fucking-mazing!!

Voxtrot – Ghost Lyrics 12 years ago
He's really intense in this song. It's heartbreaking.

The pace is kind of frantic in a way. It's like he's afraid of death, saddened by it, and intrigued by it too. That's just my thought.

Annie – Heartbeat Lyrics 12 years ago
I was planning on saying the same thing as Indie YYY, and I think we both got it from Pitchfork, haha.

This is one of my favorite songs ever. It really is a flawless piece of music.

Seriously, this song is AMAZING.

Cansei de Ser Sexy – Patins Lyrics 12 years ago
Why does this song not have any comments???????

Obviously, no in depth analysis is needed, but this song is fucking awesome. It's just how I feel, and probably how everyone feels, when you're just absolutely obsessed with someone, but you don't know how to deal with it. I love it.

The Oohlas – Small Parts Lyrics 12 years ago
I like the section "the decay of a former stone heart distributed into small parts, now I cease to grow, i cannot function anymore."

It's an accurate description of how one would feel if they were to lose someone they had loved, whether romantic or just someone close to them.

I think this is my favorite song on the album.

Arcade Fire – Keep the Car Running Lyrics 12 years ago
There a lot of illusion to death and the afterlife on Neon Bible. It kind of makes a bridge between it and Funeral. this album is way more upbeat sounding though. I agree though that it's kind of about freedom and doing what you want. At least that's what I think of when I listen to it. It's so good though.

Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse Lyrics 12 years ago
I think he says "for a crime I DID commit"

It makes more sense when he says he'd "do it again."

And this may sound silly and sappy, but I love that Win will echo Regine and vice versa. I think it's so romantic when they harmonize on songs together.

I never have anything interesting to add to the songs. This is my favorite on the Neon Bible.

Arcade Fire – Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover) Lyrics 12 years ago
I wouldn't say it's better than the YYY's. They definately "make it their own" even though I hate that expression. I just love it when a great band covers another great band. The Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are two of my absolute favorites.

"Un, deux, trois, dit miroir noir"

It gives me goosebumps. It's so good.

Haha, that's awesome (meaning above).

There isn't a bad thing about this song.

Menomena – Wet and Rusting Lyrics 12 years ago
It has a very melancholy sound to it, but it's not sad or depressing or anything. I have nothing insightful to say, I just love this album.

Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton – Reading in Bed Lyrics 12 years ago
I saw her in concert last night here in DC. They added an extra verse and more music to the end. It was so good. I don't really remember any of the lyrics except part about "A house in New Orleans."

It's such a new experience seeing her in this type of venue, sitting there playing piano the whole time, instead of dancing around like in Metric. I would recommend seeing her if anyone gets the chance. It was a beautiful concert.

This song is amazing.

I don't really have any interesting insight, I was just mildly insulted that only one person commented.

Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics 12 years ago
Obviously, by the third page we've all established the meaning of the song.

Personally, it reminds me of just trying to get away from where you grew up. Most normal people don't really relish the idea of staying in their hometown forever. It's like Alex got out for awhile, and he was obviously not planning on coming back. But then for whatever reason, he ends up back where he started, a failure. It's sad. The whole album is so poignant and sad, but still so beautiful. I don't know how much longer I can wait for their next album. Spring 2007 can't come soon enough.

And by "the one" i mean, the song, haha

Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton – The View Lyrics 12 years ago
It's "Eau de Toillette of devotion"

Eau de Toillette is watered down perfume. When you buy perfume/cologne and it says "eau de toillette," you know it's the cheaper kind.

I think it's weird that the one talking about "The View" is called "Eau de Toillette" and the one talking about "Eau de Toillette" is talking about "The View"

It's about the coldness of consumerism.

I love it. It's beautiful, yet kind of haunting and creepy.

Broken Social Scene – I'm Still Your Fag Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't think it's cut my wrists. That sounds a little too emo for BSS. But maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I'm seeing them tonight and it will be the best moment of my life.

Tilly and the Wall – Coughing Colors Lyrics 12 years ago
Well, I don't mean intentionally giving up. If you were coughing, it'd be more like them forcing you to give them up. That's what I meant.

Tilly and the Wall – Coughing Colors Lyrics 12 years ago
"Coughing Colors" kind of reminds me of Pleasantville. The ones with the color were the ones persecuted against, because they were outside of society. They were the ones experiencing life in the way that no one else was. So, coughing up the colors would kind of be like giving up, giving in and living how others want you to.

Garbage – Cup Of Coffee Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song does a superb job of describing not the sadness of a breakup, but the emptiness and hopelesness you feel. Rather than talking about crying her eyes out and so on, it's more like, she is so disinterested in everything that she just lives life like a robot. Staring at the walls, going to bars and sleeping with anyone. It's so true to life. And the whole wishing you'd never been born. that's a big one.
