okkk so, to actually try to interpret what this song actually means.... my guess is that the girl wants to escape, but since you can't actually escape life, you have to actually deal with it & change yourself or the way you look at life. the way she thinks she can "escape" is by dreaming/imagining (recreating her own world) and improving herself with... that guy by imrpoving their relationship. |

WHY HASN'T ANYONE COMMENTED ON THIS GREAT SONG YET? anywayyyy. this song isn't hard to figure outtt. the person who's talking is a boy who's maybe in love with this girl he's pretty close with. "you & me we like to talk about that summer night you came over to my house and i sat there while you told me everything all of your ups & downs & in betweens & i just thought to myself..." & he's in ... perhaps love? with this girl who goes through TONS of shit. but she never ever lets that completely stop her from doing the things she wants to do; being happy, etc. "how could so much good exist in such a tiny heart despite of all the pain she's in she never falls apart. & if she does it lasts the length of seven songs she dries her tears on her best friend's sleeves & dances right along" & he dreams that he's given the chance to take on an actual RELATIONSHIP. & they're hesitant because it might be risky, but he's definetly willing to take the chance. i first heard this song on the oc. it totally fit the oc. it makes me sad to hear this song because a lot of it is so true, & that yeah, we could only be young for such a limited time. but anyway, i totally love this song no matter how sad it makes me. & yeah, like other people said, songs don't lose its quality no matter how popular it is. people who say that make it seem like... any song that's "mainstream" or played on the radio is crap. i think that's some stupid bs... |

i absolutely love this song. but i don't think chasing cars means chasing girls at all. i think that when the guy says "let's waste time, chasing cars around our heads" he means, lets just do nothing together. because all that matters is just being with that person & forgetting the world...which is pretty much true. |
