Counting Crows – Sundays Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I don't believe the album was crap but if you did I wish you had a little more feedback. This song is about the an unbalanced one sided love/lust affect. I can't do anything at all" is the feeling you get when you feel for someone but can't figure out why they don't. Every chance you get you look at your partners eyes to see if they pick up on how useless you are. |
Counting Crows – On Almost Any Sunday Morning Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is about someone needing more than to get laid but, is haunted by previous, relationships gone wrong, He wish that he could release his eyes from what he has seen "empty circles" He wants to stay this time because everything felt right but once he ejaculated he started picking the person apart until what was left was just another "Walkaway" He tries to reinforce the spirit of staying put |
Natalie Merchant – Golden Boy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
When I listen to this report on the state of our country, I can think of nothing else but WAR. GOLDEN BOY, is the soldier coming home victorious from one of our wars overseas to a town where he was once nameless and now, he can't stop shining because of nothing other than a "killing spree" "Everyone stops when you come around" the town is so proud. "Idols are made" we made this soldier a hero "Golden" "Brand New Face" "Meteor rise from obscurity" this kid that was once a nobody is now a hero. "I know my place stick to my lines, stay in your shadow don't block your light, so you can shine divine" This verse belongs to his wife that must say the right thing so that he can seem the bigger hero. The same lyrics fit to politicians, running for offices that have blood on their hands. |
Natalie Merchant – Tell Yourself Lyrics | 16 years ago |
First Part To me it’s an adolescent girl blossoming in the midst of societies obsession with beauty, and what it means in general to be a woman. “Look in the mirror” “I hear you counting, I know your adding up the score up the score” The narrator being once at that age can relate. Score= calories or it can be her own worth. Second Part. “Ever since Eden” Adam blamed Eve for his decision to consume of the “forbidden fruit” an event that later was to be known as “the fall of man” “Built for pleasing” Since this time she’s been making up for this “indiscretion”. Definitions Pretty = pleasing by delicacy or grace “Belle dujour” in 1967 where a married woman is bored with being marriage, so she begins to have dreams of being raped, spanked, and humiliated. She then eagerly seeks to become a prostitute. I rented the film and there are morew than some inappropriate relationships that are hinted to when the main character was young. The film goes back and forth between reality and subconscience. |

Natalie Merchant – My Skin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think anyone can relate to this song. this song means a sick person or person that has been sheltered and medicated and shut in. "I've been treated so wrong, I've been treated so long, as if I'm becoming untouchable". The speaker has a disease perhaps lerprcy,, aids, cancer. etc.. "Take a look at my body, look at my hands there's so much here that I don't understand." "Face saving promise" i take as a doctor explaining to the speaker "you will get better" and the speaker has heard that before and doesn't need any more empty promises. What she needs is to love, be loved, and find a love in their different forms instead of being treated in a hospital, or crazyhouse. "Do you remember the way that you touched me before" At one point she was received well and now she is pittied, treated, and talked to as if she was a patient instead of a living breathing human being. *Glad I could clear that up for ya* |
